I really hoped the result stayed 1-1. I dont think we will qualify anyway no matter what the result tonight but now stan gets to have another go. Is it possible he'l get the sack for this result?

Ah lads, take it easy. We won away from home in a hostile environment. I mean, we were really intimidated by the three San Marino supporters.

    ROFL.
Did you ever notice that in every painting of Adam & Eve, they have belly buttons. Think about that...take as long as you want.

Should be retitled 45 SECONDS from the sack (maybe less). Kilbane at least was suitably embarrassed in the post-match interview - cannot honestly understand what the TV3 lads are saying. It sounds like they're speaking English but if you listen closely it's just a meaningless string of sounds coming out of their mouths.

Stan said he'd take the 3 points no matter what and I guess he got what he wanted.

Isn't it weird that Dunphy wasn't doing the Cyprus match OR this one...?! May have unwittingly uncovered some sort of conspiracy theory. Would LOVE to hear Dunphy after it...Priceless.

Fantastic idea. Why doesn't everyone here use it as their signature too for a week?
As Irishmen we dilute our sense of nation by depending on the English to bring us our balls

Has to go, either jump or be pushed, nothing else to be done, when you think England still get the **** taken for going 1 down, but winning 6-1, what will the rest of Europe make of only winning 2-1? Actually scratch that, what will the rest of the group make of it? Toshack was at the game tonight, must be rubbing his hands with glee thinking of Giggs and the rest attacking that midfield

Even my 8-year old feels really sorry for San Marino. It would have been one of the great sporting results of all time, for those of us who like an underdog. And scraping a last minute win does Irish football no good in the long run, in my view.

No sign of stan after the game. hopefully hes looking for a pen to write his parting script. if we suffered the same fate as san marino did with the referees watch we would be up in arms.

this is worse than cyprus. the guilt is awful.

ronnie whelan is such a pussy. why is he trying to gloss over this.

fai website as of right now has the hilarious LEAD headline:

"Experimental Ireland happy with performance at U18 level"

there's some link below that to live text commentary of some other game...

players are as much, if not more, to blame as staunton. he's an easy target and i can't stand him but we should reserve bucketfulls of spittle and bile for the entire team.

"San Marino will improve as the group goes on" - no they won't, they're going to get a hiding in the next game, and the next game, and the game after that
