    British Airways "strike"

Our group is booked on BA on Tues 7th to Bologna, returning after the San Marino game on Thurs 8th.......The proposed cabin-crew strike is set for 29th jan-31st jan...and if nothing resolved, the second strike is scheduled for 5th Feb to 7th Feb!!

Anyone else facing this potential disaster??

we're on the same flights, so deciding whether to hold out and hope it doesn't go ahead, or have an offer to get onto a charter(flight only) to rimini from Dublin for 300 euro, will mean I'd lose the money i paid to BA though..

Anyone have any ideas of the likelihood of this going ahead..

I posted about this on the San Marino away thread earlier. I'd be very surprised if this goes ahead.

Is this based on "inside information" Paulie, or "best educated guess"?

Unfortunately it's just an educated guess. It's based on nothing more than the fact that there's been a number of proposed strikes at Dublin Airport down through the years and it seems that it never or very rarely actually happens. There are always last minute talks to put off the strike or the issue becomes resolved. I know that this strike is in a different country but I'd hope that they would be as anxious to get this sorted as the people at Dublin Airport seem to have been when there were similar strikes proposed there. On the positive side we should know by next Monday as that's the day the strike is due to begin so at least that would give us some time to find alternative flights. As I said though my guess is that it won't come to that.

I sort of "feel" the same...i.e. that WE should be ok.

If British Airways want to be bullish to the Union, they will have to remember that they will have to answer to the shareholders, in respect of the huge cost, both in financial terms, and in PR terms, if they allow a strike 29th Jan-31st Jan.

Surely if this does happen, then no-one at BA could risk the financial melt-down of ANOTHER 3 day strike Feb 5th-Feb 7th.....i.e. we should be OK ( "I'm alright Jack"! )

    Hornet,

There are still seats available on Ryanscare flight from Stansted to Forli on the Tuesday morning @ 7.10 am and are still fairly cheap. Also there are still seats on the return flight on the Thursday morning leaving Forli at around 10 .

I'm on those flights but unfortunately Babysis and Green Tribe are on it also so missing the match might not be so bad after all.

I'd suggest you get your skates on

If the weather poor & flight cancelled you screwqed but maybe Ryanair would have been a better option as very slim chance will ever be a strike there...?

    watch it AidoM!
We're very good to fly with, we always check for lifevests under our seats
BA have had an awful time of it lately with LHR scare in August, fog at Xmas, now this, crazy!
I would hope that this strike goes ahead and then the Feb one is called off.

With no positive news coming on any resolution.....we have taken the plunge and booked our Ryanair "parachute" to Bologna Forli ( from Stansted 07.10).........flights both ways were £0.01p....but with tax and credit card charges, works out at £36.57 each......proof that in Today's World even spending a penny costs a fortune
