UCD defender announces retirement

February 17, 2007

UCD defender Keith Doyle has announced his retirement from eircom League football with immediate effect.

Doyle, who also spent time with St Patrick�s Athletic, Shamrock Rovers, Athlone Town and Dublin City, joined the Students last summer.

However, work commitments have forced the 27-year-old to hang up his boots, at senior professional level at least.

Doyle�s decision follows the departures of teammates Pat Kavanagh and Gary Dicker to Birmingham City, leaving manager Pete Mahon with a few holes to plug ahead of the new season next month.

The College Tribune had this ages ago (inside line I guess

). It's a pity. He played well for us, and let Kenna play where he's best.

Has Shorthall officially left yet? Any word on Brian King? It seems unlikely that we will be signing him now.

James Hussey has already left Bray.

Stephen Hurley played for them at the weekend, so it seems he's not going to be around next season. Which is rather annoying.

I assume Brian King is signing seeing as he played for us at the weekend?
