Oh and one more thing...
"rules are rules"
yes, and everyone involved prosecuted for reckless trading
How, specifically, are you now being allowed to trade?Do you not think it's unfair we're being put out of business ?
How?Shelbourne has been f**ked over by you know who for the past few years but at a time when we want to run things properly it seems we are not allowed to ?
Tough...but wanting Shelbourne out of business is very unfair...

"They" didn't do anything, Ollie put you out of business and the fans appear to have taken no material action to right the ship.
You have been thrown a lifeline by apparently being granted a First Division license when you haven't actually complied with its requirements.
By rights you should have gone the way of Limerick FC. Tough indeed, but true.
So instead of the victim complex, you are lucky to be still in football!

From today's Star:
Meanwhile, Shelbourne coach Mick Neville - who has been taking training in recent weeks - believes the decision works in the club's favour as it seeks to tackle debts of almost €12m and to relocate to Santry Stadium by selling Tolka Park. "It's not the end of the world if we are playing in the First Division. We have a young squad of players at the club and the club is very strong at under-age level".
Who Cares?!
I might be in the minority here but I don't want to see another club go bust.
If they don't meet the requirements for a License they shouldn't have one but if they're chucked out at this late stage, there's no chance that a club will be found to replace them so I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed enter an amateur team simply to keep their history alive in the hope that they'll sort themselves out when Tolka is sold. Afterall, Shams played for a year with no license.
I don't think anyone "wants" to see another club go bust but most of us point out that Shels have no one to blame for this but themselves.
TO TELL THE TRUTH IS REVOLUTIONARY
The ONLY foot.ie user with a type of logic named after them!
All of this has happened before. All of it will happen again.
Gary Brown, Ollie Byrne, Finbar Flood, Andy Byrne, Ossie Killkenny. How many more will there be? You lot have stood by and watched this happen as a succession of chancers, spoofers, crooks and developers have decided how to proceed.
You should be ashamed at the lack of action by your fanbase. Even now some Shels fans think you should be in the Premier FFS. You have done NOTHING to stop this and don't deserve a club to follow.

agree, ****ing disgraceful that the fans have sat back over the past 4 weeks and not even worked on a plan B just in case the worst happened. If Shels went bust next week the fans have had 4/5 weeks to prepare and alternative club and be ready to submit a licensing application for the First Division.
It really is a mess. I wonder though is much of this Gary Brown trying to get a few quid out of Ossie Kilkenny very quickly.
What odds on them being let back in the league next year if they choose to leave?
What happens Tolka if they fold?
There hasn't been much said of Ossie Kilkennys role in all this. He seems to be the one that benefits most. He's been providing bridging capital for the last 3 seasons and has offered to fund this season also. The money to be drawn down from the value of any future sale of Tolka. How does all this sit with his positon as chairman of the Irish sports council ?

Sorry Higgins, I must have missed something, what are the conditions that has effectively put you out of business? I thought you had a division 1 licence and would be in that division next year.
For what its worth, I would not like to see Shels fold. The loss of a real club is always a blow to any league.
Where do these new developments leave Shamrock Rovers with regards to having somewhere to play? Do they have a contingency plan?
If Shelbourne do fold though, have SRFC been assured the use of Tolka for the season?
Are there any truth in the rumour that Shels have half of last years Killester squad on stand-by?
PS. There are about 20 different topics in this thread. Defeats the whole point of having a New Post button. Really annoying having to scavenge through the thread for the parts you want. Some of us have to pretend to be working you know!
He didn't award them anything, the league did. But continue to celebrate it along with your current league title. I hope the memories keep you warm in Cobh on a Tuesday night
