if they had the good of irish football at heart they would not even try to commit to their CL "obligation".

The way they have behaved it is better for all concerned that they don't exist. They are an embarrasment to Irish football.

    Not counting chickens yet.
We have a good first division squad. Then again, it can be no worse than last year's squad.

Shels volunteering to drop a division makes no sense. Regardless of how good a team they have, the financial costs [travel etc] would be far less and they'd get bigger crowds at the Derbies etc so no matter how ****e a team they assemble, i'd be surprised if they volunteered for relegation.

There can be no complaints form Dundalk fans if Shels go down. The facts are that Waterford United are the next team in line to be promoted we finished ahead of Dundalk in the rankings table. So Dundalk can have no complaints when the blues are returned to the Premiership!!!

Shels wont have any crowds, if they're not winning. They struggled to muster a few thousand to watch them win the title this year!

I'm starting to believe in this SRFC fixation. Is Rovers Attention Disorder a recognised condition at this stage?

but Bohs, Rovers, Pats, Drogheda would bring decent travelling support, far more then Cobh/Monaghan/Limerick etc. If they had 6 home games against Bohs/Rovers/Pats/Drogheda they would make on any 1 of those what they'd make from any 6 first division opponents.

In business terms its lower costs and higher income in my view

Rovers could just pay rent to DCC for use of Tolka, or seek a 1/2 year lease

According to this Shels will compete in Europe and in the premier this season.

Like I said, they can try all they want. IMO there is NO WAY they can get a UEFA license for next year

    Good one

I thought you lot would love to see Dublin lose a club? If Shels go under, Dundalk will be one step closer to promotion and only Waterford will stand in your way.

Note to WUFC: don't open any unexpected parcels bearing Louth post marks.
Would rather win the first division and take the €50k from the F.A.I and laugh at them. Well I'm from Dublin which shouldnt matter in this case, but I wouldnt want to see any club go bust, as mentioned before there is no way Shels can play in the CL and should not be in the premier, their are three or four teams in the first division that one of them should be there instead.

Any team going bust is not good for the LOI, I wouldnt wish it on any club not even rovers or the drogs (who will prob go the same way as shels with there spending)

As was pointed out on some other thread about shels, they will be fécking up the leagues coefficient if they compete in CL and get hammered a couple of times.

If Shels meet the Uefa licence criteria then you cannot deny them playing in Europe just because they won't be able to gain any coefficient points. That would set a dangerous precedent.

Champions League participation would be worth 260k to Shels just for partaking (100k per round & 160k compensation when fail to make the group stages) so I cannot see Shels giving it up without a fight. As a seeded team Shels could get drawn against Luxembourg or Faroe Island team so could fluke it into the 2nd round even with part-time players. Again they could fuke a big name draw in the 2nd round & with extra 100k = tv money could pay for their entire 2007 budget...

    ...
How would they do that Pete? Plus they could end up playing somewhere with astronomical travel costs. Plus what part-time players are they going to have? Either youth players or the dregs that not even Kilkenny City would take. If their superstars couldn't beat the maltese ice cream sellers a few years ago how will they with an asorted rabble of rejects?
