What kind of squad have waterford built up this season? Is it one that is for the 1st division or good enough for the premier?
On Morning Ireland just now they said they contacted Finbarr Flood and he insisted they would compete in the Premier Division and in Europe; hard to see how

Slightly off topic here, but does anyone know whether it is the FAI Finance Department or an outside company that review the clubs accounts/budgets for the Licencing process?
Because whoever is responsible for this also needs to be held accountable for giving the ok to Shels/DC/Rovers at various times over the last couple of years

All of this has happened before. All of it will happen again.
You'll almost never hear me defend the FAI but....if a club submits accounts that seem to have been independently audited the FAI have to accept them. The repurcusions for submitting false accounts are likely to be severe so I'm sure the FAI use that threat as a means of receiving truthful accounts.
Well the firm doing Shel's/Accolade obviously used the "Kinder: My First Balance Sheet" to prepare Shels.
On the other handle, massaging the figures to conceal such a debt takes some skill!

Relegate them and kick them out of europe but wouldn't like them to see them fold altogether.
shels have acted like a domestic version of chelsea or real madrid (without the financial backing or support base). pull the rug from under them and use them as an example of how not to act as a club.
EVERYONE in the game knew this was going to happen, except shels fans apparantly, but i think most people, myself included, are surprised at how fast and how devastating this particular bubble has burst.
into the first division with ye and start from scratch, try building a club this time and not buying one with money you don't have!
You wouldn't need a shredder if say, hypothetically speaking, your offices were flooded by a nearby river and you "unfortunately" kept all your financial records on the floor.
Records which were written in lemon juice, on tissue paper.
Cogito ergo Bohs
Shelbourne could draw the champions of Kazakhstan and incur big travel expenses. They could end up in big trouble trying to play the European tie. They won't see that prize money until mid 2008.
Shels deserve to be punished for their reckless behaviour. Exile to the First Division, with a whopping points deduction to ensure they don't come up for a long time, and minute continuous examination of their accounts, would be about right.
But, other than those who would be in line to take their place, does anyone seriously think that deliberately killing off Shelbourne would be good for their own club?
Good for Pats if Shels die? Probably not. Good for Pats fans? Oh yes, very much so
