Not surprising when you have Muppets like Bertie Ahern swooning over them on TV etc. (at our expense!) at every opportunity, and using the same language.

Where do you have to go on this forum to be embarrassed by the amount of the use the "we" word? This is the only thread somewhat related to Man U.

Delighted for O'shea in the past year or so. I have slated him plenty of times on this board for his lack of effort, laziness and incompetence in the Irish shirt. He is our most improved player under Trapetoni and now has a steely edge to his game and is playing with more heart and determination and most importantly-concentration. Good for him, its about bloody time.

It was the short black out spells that were the killer

Do you think Trap has had some crucial influence on O'Shea's game?

Hard to believe he will be 28 soon.

Must say that his general play seems to have improved immensely of late. He now seems a lot better going forward than previously and often seems to put some excellent through balls into the box. Long may it continue.
My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method, is love. I love you Sheriff Truman.

problem with o'shea was that he was so bloody good when he emerged. nutmegging figo and generally rampaging up and down the left wing, for united at least. the only place from those lofty heights was down, unfortunately. our expectations were perhaps a little bit unrealistic. good player, i suppose his flaws are all the more perplexing because they seem to be of the type that are easily fixed.

Everyone is different i suppose-he was living on the memory and reputation of his first 2 seasons with united and was content to just coast. Ill never forget watching him against San Marino in Landsdowne-honestly the laziest most useless git Ive ever seen in an Irish shirt!

Anyway its great to see him playing well again. Maybe Trapetoni has had an effect on him. Someone has lit a fire under his arse anyway-Its a pity its taken 50 caps for it to happen though when we've needed a solid partner for Dunne for a long time now.

It could all be a case of him being very uncomfortable at left back for us as well though-where he played most of his games.

Wrong! He is not a centre back and any decent sporting pundit gives him 5-6 out of 10 for his performances. His game has improved but he is naturally better at left or right back. I would sooner have Andy O'Brien beside Dunne and O'Shea on the right.

Yes! Andy O'Brien has gotten out of position at times, so has Dunne.

From what is available, we need to be looking to have Finnan, Dunne, AN OTHER and O'Shea on the left.
Killer could possibly do a role as a holding midfileder, even a center back! but has been shown up to many times now in a position which is certainly not his natural one.

I think he was shown up in central midfield far more than he was at left back. Do you remember Cyprus away. O Shea and Dunne has worked as a centre back partnership and what most good coaches do they make the spine of their team strong and that has worked so far. I think Finnan being fit would solve the right back issue and we should be trying out Foley to against Nigeria also.
    In Trap we trust

I think its nearly time for us to stop hoping that Finnan will be fit all the time and move on to Foley. If Finnan was in his 20s still I would say he still has a chance at being a regular for us but its looking increasingly unlikely at his age now.He is picking up more and more niggling injuries all the time
    Its really not that complicated!!!

On the train down to Galway after an international a few months ago a few muppets were singing Man United and Liverpool songs over and back at eachother which eventually led to fights and Guards waiting in Athlone for them..... best part though was yer man from Athlone singin the Man United songs with a Manc accent

Yeah, I just find it hard to suggest to drop Kilbane altogether! Kinda like an old sheepdog!

I still say that ideally we play O'Shea right or left and looking at goals we have given up, O'Shea could have done better in most. He is also pacy down the wings but quick enough to get back. Though I still say he is a kick in the hole or two away from giving maximum effort.

Would be a disaster if O'Shea's injury is long term. Alex Bruce at the heart of the defence anyone?
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

You can imagine that O'Sheas injury is serious, its a delicate balance between motivation and injury.
Just how many kicks up the hole do you think had to be inflicted upon O'Shea just to get him going? One more kick and it just might be a camel back breaker.

He will become a legend under Keane.

There may be no truth in the above statement

Looks like he's out for a couple of weeks at least and possibly 'til the end of the season http://www.premierleague.com/page/He...636271,00.html
