    New Signings

    According to Citynet:

    City sign two teenagers
Tonight's Evening Echo reports that Cork City have signed two youngsters this week. Graeme Keane (17) comes home from Preston, while Shane Barrett (17) signs from Cobh Ramblers.

They sound too young to figure this season, but maybe in a year or two.

    eleven-a-side.com Keane edge for Cork

Cork City have signed city native Graeme Keane from Preston North End after the 17-year-old midfielder was released by the Nationwide League Division One side.

Keane, an Irish youth international, attracted the attentions of Preston while lining out for famous Cork academy Leeds and the Irish under 15 side in 2000, but he failed to settle in England and could be a major addition to Cork City’s squad in the coming years.

It may be a while before he features at first team level, however. Keane will not turn 18 until next summer, and he will be given a chance to further his footballing education before being exposed to the rigorous demands of senior eircom League action.

Keane believes that the reason behind Everton’s recent excellent run of results has, in an indirect manner, contributed to the demise of his career in England.

Former Preston boss David Moyes left North End to take over at Goodison Park, and former Scotland boss Craig Brown, Moyes’ successor at Deepdale, does not have the same opinion of one of the least well-known Keanes to have emerged from the Rebel County to pursue a football career in England.

Said Graeme: “The new manager didn’t face me quite as much as a player in comparison to what David Moyes’s opinion of me was. Cork City were my first option ... and I’m confident I can get things back on track here.”

I work with a guy who's a season ticket holder at Deepdale so I'll ask him tomorrow. PNE are only a pale shadow of the side David Moyes had.

Sure many people have said seen X player play when he was 13 or something & was really good. If they weren't handy enough to start with they wouldn't have made an offer by foreign clubs?

    Lightbulb kerry league u21 team

Since the Kerry league U21 team have got to the playoff quarter finals instead of City I wonder has it occurred to Gunther to watch a few of their games with a view to making a few signings.

I reckon most of those guys would jump at the chance to play for City and they must have a few decent players.
