tough beat last night for the red sox, Trot Nixon causing damage against former club. Plus Gagne doing his best to **** things up again, hopefully that is the last time he shows his face in the Red Sox uniform

    Rockies sweep the Dbacks

Continues trend of wild card teams advancing to the World Series.

Rockies unbelievably hot since last month of regular season.

Looking for Schilling to step up and do it tonight back in Boston.

Seems like Ellsbury is getting the start tonight ahead of Coco Crisp

The red sox won 12-2 in the end. One more win and they're through
Dice K pitching tonight it looks like.

Drew delivered with a 2 out grand slam in the first to show why the Red Sox gave him a five year contract. For the first time all season 1-9 are hitting well at the same time. Dice-K has handled pressure before so that hopefully won't affect his performance. I can see the Red Sox's bullpen being the deciding factor in the game.

So much for the "experts" on Baseball Tonight saying that Red Sox had no chance when 3-1 down.

The Red Sox sweep it 4-0. Superb.
The above is all opinion and based on personal experience. Unless stated otherwise it is not a dig at anybody, well probably none of you lot.

nice work by jacoby ellsbury. paps golden halo nearly slipped with that deep deep drive to left field. pedroia, ellsbury, papelbon or lowell would all have been worthy mvps so great were the sox in the series.

on another note, classless shiit by a-rod. i wouldn't care if he broke barry bonds hr record in a red sox uniform, i'd still hate the man. i was surprised to note just how many hrs he has. what's the opinion stateside on his ability to set a new all time high? i mean, is he a hall of famer in waiting?

his numbers have been hall of fame quality for a few years now, at the end of his career, many, if not most baseball pundits will regard him as the best player ever, as many do now.

What did A-Rod say to get that reaction? I was doing the marathon yesterday so missed the game on Sunday night and all the post game coverage.

he declared on the last day of the world series, that he would opt out of the last 3 years of his contract, and pursue free-agency...very bad tact, a very "me-first" thing to do on what should have been the Red Sox's day.

Just saw that. Boras, his agent, has already apologised. Don't know if he would be a good fit for the Red Sox. Can't question his talent but apparently Varitek isn't a fan.

SAN FRANCISCO, California (CNN) -- Barry Bonds, baseball's record home run hitter, was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury on perjury and obstruction of justice charges.

The indictment charges Barry Bonds with lying when he said he didn't knowingly take steroids.

A federal grand jury in San Francisco returned a five count indictment against Bonds charging four counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of justice.

"I'm surprised," said John Burris, one of Bonds' attorneys, who told The Associated Press, "there's been an effort to get Barry for a long time."

"I'm curious what evidence they have now they didn't have before." Burris did not know of the indictment before being alerted by The Associated Press. He told AP he would immediately call Bonds to notify him. The indictment charges Bonds with lying when he said he didn't knowingly take steroids given to him by his personal trainer, Greg Anderson.

He also denied taking steroids at any time in 2001 when he was pursuing the single-season home run record. "During the criminal investigation, evidence was obtained including positive tests for the presence of anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing substances for Bonds and other athletes," the indictment reads. He is also charged with lying that Anderson never injected him with steroids.

President Bush, a former baseball team owner who has spoken against steroid use, is "very disappointed to hear this," said White House spokesman Tony Fratto. "As this case is now in the criminal justice system, we will refrain from any further specific comments about it. But clearly this is a sad day for baseball."

Bonds was granted immunity for his December 4, 2003, testimony before the grand jury. The indictment states Bonds was promised his testimony would not be used against him except in the cases of "perjury, false declaration or otherwise failing to comply with the court's order."

Bonds filed for free agency last month on the first possible day after the World Series ended with Boston's sweep of the Colorado Rockies -- severing his tenure with San Francisco. Giants owner Peter Magowan told him last month the club would not bring him back for a 16th season.

Bonds, who has hit 762 homers, broke Hank Aaron's record with a shot into the right-center seats off Washington Nationals pitcher Mike Bacsik at San Francisco on August 7.

He has been selected for 14 All-Star games, a record seven National League Most Valuable Player awards and eight Gold Glove awards
The above is all opinion and based on personal experience. Unless stated otherwise it is not a dig at anybody, well probably none of you lot.

    Fantastic news about Bonds.

Hopefully the asterisk is replaced by him dropping off the home run list and more importantly making sure he gets no nearer Cooperstown.

Obviously it's going to be given to A-Rod but this article (although biased) may change a few minds.
