Forum postponed until New Year

The Shelbourne fans forum, scheduled for tomorrow night (Tuesday) at Tolka Park, has been postponed due to the damage caused at the Drumconrath venue by last month’s flooding. The Cork City leg of the initiative was held in the southern capital last week.

Tolka Park was extremely badly hit after the river after which the venue is named burst its banks, leaving the entire pitch under water and causing untold damage to the venue’s facilities.

Tonight’s meeting between Derry City and Shels is the first game to go ahead at the venue in over a month, but the bar and gym are among those areas still out of commission, and the decision has been taken to postpone the event until the New Year.

The Cork City leg of theStar-sponsored initiative was held last week, with City manager Liam Murphy, club Chairman Brian Lennox and eircom League Marketing Director Darren Bernstein fielding questions.

City boss Murphy, under pressure after a run of poor results and faced with a growing band of dissenting voices, emerged with credit from the meeting.
