I think ALDI were selling them at one stage. By the way, UTV will give you another line for voip for a fiver a month, I think.

    Do not get an e-phone!
Media-Streams were taken over by Microsoft in 2005 and the phones are still rubbish! They integrate into Outlook.

Hi Monkfish, in case anyone recommends them to you ... we're using Irish Broadbands Ripwave (19 bucks a month) service here in Limerick city and it is nothing short of disgraceful.

It was considerably better up until Christmas -not hugely faster than dial-up but heh -it was "always on dial up" and only 19 quid.

For over a month now there's no signal at all as often as there is. The signal strength is currently 7kbps (yes you read correct SEVEN kilabites per second). Last night at one stage it spiked at a mighty 9kbps. Frankly it's a miracle I can post here.

When we phoned to complain we got a "you ordered sh1t -now eat sh1t" response.

Signed up to BT yesterday. Their "target connection date" is feb 6th. Here's hoping.

Thanks, i think Eircom sounds like the solid option, dont know anyone with chorus or perlico ( plus your man on the ad is slightly annoying )

Eircom are rubbish very expensive and of no help if anything goes wrong , you have to pay for a land line then your broadband on top of that !!

i had Irish broadband it was supposed to be 2mb/sec it cost nearly 50 euro and allways dropped off was very slow and sometimes wouldnt even connect .

i now have Digiweb 3md/sec DL for about 35 euro its the fastest ive seen, i can download a song in about 30 sec's and a video file for example an episode of say south park in about 25to 40 mins .

Eircom Has the best internet in my opinion , I have two connections to my house Eircom and NTL and I have to say I find the eircom connection to be much better , Although I would agree eircom are poor for help/question , and they are abit expensive .. but you pay for quality.

I think all the DSL providers are very slow providing service as they rely on eircom as they basically reselling their technology.

It took UTV a year to change my landline bill from eircom.

Friend of mine works in a Comreg call centre and she says Eircom is the place to be.
Says she spends her days listening to Perlico complainants from Dublin.
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

Forgot to mention that the mother in law signed up for Eircom BB before christmas. Unit couldn't connect for her. They give you a "ten euro credit card" for technical assistance for when, as is likely, the yoke doesn't work.

When the card runs out you're then paying for them to troubleshoot something they supplied you with that does not do what it's supposed to do.

It get's better -when you call the number on the 10 euro card you have to dial thirty three consecutive digits without dropping the ball or pausing. The slightest pause will result in your being redirected to an customer service operative who (I think this is the best bit for a business who's business is telephony and telecommunications) CANNOT PATCH YOU THROUGH to the people who's job it is to get your connection working. All she/he can tell you to do is start again with the number on the card.

Oh ...do I even need to point out -the clock is ticking on your ten euro.

    Only in this country.

Mother in laws' gotten rid of the thing already. UTV are on the way.
