I've voted for Brian Kerr. My reasons are simple and can be found in an absolute s**tload of my other posts as I'm sick of constantly writing them. Needless to say they're not only valid, they're the absolute truth.

Could we drop O'Leary (i don't want the job), Reid (must be a boomkies sacm having him as favourite) & Houghton as no one will vote for them anyway...

Wasn't me but I've heard a few people back Robson. He certainly wouldn't be my choice but there is a small number of stalwart fans who seem to want the guy. The main reason that I've heard to support his candidature is that he is a strong influence over Keane. You may all be aware at this stage that I'd like to see Keane back if he can straighten things out with his international colleagues, but its a poor reason in isolation on which to base the managerial appointment.

Is this true or just paper talk ?
If it is true, than no way should he be picked.
The manager of any team, from schoolboys up, should not be picked on the basis of who one player is alleged to favour.

I'm not saying its true. I'm just saying that a small core of Keane supporters are putting Robson forward as the man to heal the rift.

What are the reasons for people wanting Kerr?

H e has done a job at under age level, but sure any City fan will tell you that just because a guy is a good youth manager doesnt make him a great senior manager.

To be honest, I reckon the reason alot of you want Kerr is because he has never managed in England, and your using/being blinded by your "I only support the eL" card.

Why is it that everyone thinks that you need top club experience to manage an international team.
I think that it helps if you have that experience but is not an automatic guarantee that you will be better than someone who doesn't.
The reason for picking Kerr is simple. He is the best candidate of all who have said they are interested.
If a Wenger, Ferguson or Houllier said they wanted the job then I sure those supporting Kerr would re-consider thie choice.
However there is no-one of that calibur either available or interested.

Again i'm not saying Kerr the best man necessarily but...

Was reading yesterday about Camacho the Real Madrid manager. I think everyone will accept he been fairly successful keeping all the stars happy & winning 2 European Cups? Well he was promoted from the Real Madrid youth coach position & was initially only thought as a stop gap...

Of the favourites for the position I would say only Daglish, Kerr, Kinnear & Troussier would be realistic options... Lemerre is out at 33/1 as the value outsider...

Daglish - has had success in the past but why he not coached recently? why he not go for Scottish job when available last year?

Kerr - Unprecedented underage international success, too numerous to mention, career manager, experience of preparing teams for international amcthes & tournaments, no high level senior experience...

Kinnear - relative success at Wimbledon, no european/international experince as a manager, would he just be a hoofer similar to Charlton?

Troussier - International experience, won asian cup with japan, japanese team under performed at recent World Cup..

I don't think that there is any indication that Kinnear would turn us into a side of hoofers. That was probably the most remarkable thing about his time at Wimbledon - not only did he have success with them but he achieved it by fundamentally changing the way they played the game.
