was benno that pacy?rather than exposing a lack of pace, i think this could see dan going back into his shell football-wise. murray last season was very positive taking the ball out of defence, playing some excellent passes and scoring goals. partially that must have been down to a good understanding with benno

I agree aswell.
It is familiarity and coaching.
Just like Bennett will take time to settle in, Brian O'Callaghan should gel after a month or two or three.
We're going to have to pick/sign a back 4 and stick to it. Give them time.
Horgan may be even better as left back but i'm not sure Lordan is the player i thought he'd be when he took the intertoto by storm.
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.
O'Bama - "Eerah yeah, I'd say we can alright!"
G.O'Mahoney Trapattoni'll sort ém out!!
I dont think Lordan ever took anything by storm and when he does play he is a weak link.
Cork have been given an unbelievable chance to get their own back on Reading.![]()
Think of the transfer fees of Doyle and Long and the comments of your chairman and manager since they left.
Set the benchmark, Bennett is the best centre half in the country. €600,000+ is fair I think.
I know he's in the last year of his contract, but Reading wont sign him at the end of the year, they need him now.
Take 'em to the cleaners!![]()

Yes he did, in the Intertoto he was very good. You couldn't fault him to be fair. Since then he hasn't have a real look in to be fair so you cant judge but given his past performance i think he'll do well.
I think we are all agreed that we'll need someone in and Lordan is in with a serious shout now. I hope he steps up to the task, but i wouldn't fair that much as we know what he is capable of already.

City definitely seem to be playing hardball with Bennet. Possible 3rd bid at 380k euro + 75k for 10 appearances. City holding out for 400k it would seem which is admirable given we will get nothing in November.
Reading are so used to buying players on the cheap I think Coppell doesn't know how to spend money & I don't mean just irish players. Its 500k sterling per place in the Premiership this year & i think will get 30m for last place next year.![]()
I'd love to see an eL player go straight to a premiership team and get a game, I'd also love to see City get a decent price for him, but they are playing a very dangerous game. Fair play for holding out for more, but they should make sure they don't end up with egg on their face if Reading pull out and then sign him for nothing later this year. They might also end up ruining the only chance for a dream move for Bennet -it's not as though there are 3 or 4 clubs bidding for him and it's not as if he is 18 or 19.
Settle for 250k now with a sell on clause and appearances bonus, the next time an English club comes calling make it 300k, then 400k after that etc etc.

Yeer goin bust just like us yeer goin bust just like us.
Reading are stealing all ur players just like Waterford are taking all of ours.
LESS OF THE BULL NOW!

Where's the money from fees going?
I've only seen Cork linked with 1 defender during the close season!
Has the takeover been completed?
from the Irish Times
Reading, meanwhile, expect to complete the signing of Alan Bennett this afternoon after the player had a medical at the club yesterday. A fee of £250,000 with add-ons that include a further £50,000 when the defender has made 10 first-team appearances has been agreed, despite some acrimony between the two parties.
"People have been happy enough to insult me and my club," said Cork City chairman Brian Lennox of the talks. "My last meeting with Reading was far from cordial, but so be it."
