The third United Airways trip is scheduled for February. More details at www.galwayunitedfc.ie.
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"
I was thinking only yesterday that a trip to Sunderland would make an appeal of sorts.
It will be filled you get to meet Roy and Niall Quinn .Also you present the man of the match award.
Our general manager has contacts in the UK which he uses to secure tickets, etc.
A continental trip would be great. However, as GUFC are using these trips as a fundraising venture, the prices are several hundred euro more than normal market prices.
this flight might get a home friendly for us in the summer against sunderland as you can read below, and that would guarantee a full house no matter where we hold it. Also it says there will be a similar offer for the manchester derby in may.

Be really careful with any relations you might start up with the mackems supporters, they're a bunch of backstabbing *****s. They even make the most stereotypical Cardiff fan you can think of look nice. They came over and played the three Cascadia teams (Vancouver, Seattle, portscum) summer of '05. Everything was cool between the mackems and the supporters from Seattle and Vancouver, until after their last match, with portscum. Then it was "****tle this, and wankouver that" on every board you can think of, including their own, as well as on soundercentral. They even helped some of the pdx hoolie wannabes with a visit to scumderland, last April.

There's the right way, the wrong way.... and the Max Power way!! :-D
much of it can be taken up a few ways - doesnt seem to positive now does it?
more water!
You're right, it's not positive. If you'd like to know more about why the Emerald City Supporters detest and loath scumderland, come over to www.soundercentral.com and search our forums, there are several threads on the subject. You can also do a search for the word s h i t t l e on the fan forum of safc.com.
From what I gather Seattle Sounders are our American "sister club" and they dont like Sunderland because Sunderland have links with their local rivals.
Im not sure about the acurracy of this because like David Beckham I need "American lessons".![]()
A Sunderland friendly would be a major coup for us. At the moment there is a lot of interest in Sunderland because of the Irish connections. It would be great to have the new stand open for this match.
Friendlies like this are a great way to introduce people who normally wouldnt attend an LOI game to United. I know my introduction to United came through a "glamour " friendly Vs Celtic back in the mid 80's.
We played a friendly against Sunderland in Terryland a few years back. They had just been promoted to the premiership and brought over a small number of supporters who seemed OK to me. Crap 0-0 draw, I think that game clashed with a major GAA game so the crowd was fairly small. I'm sure with Sunderland's new Oirish bandwagon supporters the Game would be a sell out this time around.
Any chance of a friendly Vs Seattle Sounders?
Galway United - Connacht Champions 2008
I met a Sunderland fan on holiday in the Algarve once and he was dead on. Sunderland fans are clearly sound.
Our friendly with them was also a sellout, 8500+. That was one of the things the mackem supporters ripped on us about, "8500? We draw better than that against league 1 teams". This was after the match with portscum, which drew over 20,000. But, then again, there's not much else to do in pdx on a saturday night, besides the stripclubs.![]()
A friendly between the Tribesmen and the Sounders would be great, except for one problem. We both play mostly in the summer. Your season is march thru early november, ours is (this year) third weekend of april to last saturday of september. So we'd be looking at probably sometime in feb or early march, which isn't the best weather, tourist-wise, for either city.
aah ya i remember that game steve agnew with his baldy head was playin and me and my friend we'r behind the goal at the dressing room end giving agnew and uncalled for amount of abuse about his hair problem and the box where the anouncents were made in middle of pitch where the new stand will told us over the speaker mid-match to stop abusing players or we would be removed from the ground!. just remembered that there!
There's the right way, the wrong way.... and the Max Power way!! :-D
