Good luck to Bray on trying to get their share.

I presume the protocol in these situations is that the selling club gets the full amount and then squares off the previous club(s)?

The words "blood", "stone" and "harder" immediately spring to mind.

It will be interesting to see how all the ex-Shels players do across channel. Byrne has been put forward by many people as good enough for international football. If he scores regularly for Cardiff in the championship, will it warrant a call-up.

I would think Shels will have to win something (could be waiting a while for that) & then the FAI pass that money onto Bray directly. This seems to have been the protocol previously.

Today's indo says 150,000 euro which is very good business by Shels, if true.

Makes no difference as Eire are the Eircom League of international football.

Irish Times say the same. Bray are due 40% of that. A lot less than most Shels fans thought

The star is reporting the fee to be €100,000 and bray to get €30,000 of this.

From the looks of things it doesnt look as if we may ever know how much he went for!

Lucky to get a fee at all considering the debate as to whether he's a free agent or not due to his wages not being paid.
    Top Breeders recommend drinkfeckarse....

Got a text from a mate in Cardiff and he says the papers there are reporting a 150K sterling fee for Byrne.
As Irishmen we dilute our sense of nation by depending on the English to bring us our balls

Given Bray are due a substancial cut of the fee Mr. Byrne wouldn't be announcing a smaller fee in the irish media so Shels can pocket some extra cash...?

Another great bit of business by Ollie in turning down a bid 2 to 3 times higher last year that he was forced to accept from Cardiff.

No wonder Shels are in financial trouble with business acumen like that.

im not one to EVER stick up for oillie

but it made total sense to hold on to him and sell him for a thrid what was offered in the summer, if he had left in the summer woudl they have won the league? i doubt it, in fact they may have missed uefa cup with drogs late charge, so they will probably still be financially better off selling him at the lower value and qualifying for the champions league and setanta,

it will all back fire if $hel$ are kicked out of the champions league and setanta

If you add the prize money Shels won this season on the back of Byrne's goals, your point becomes pointless. Keeping him was a good move, he scored bags of goals and helped them win the league.
