Is anybody else getting sick and tired of reading about Oily?
I got no lips I got no bones where there
were eyes there's only space
He's spent the last fortnight in a whirlwind tour of any media outlet that will have him, trying to drum up any interest in Shels plight that might persuade some newly enriched guillible son of the Celtic Tiger to write him a blank cheque. Even his admissions of guilt were straight out of the "any publicity is good publicity" approach to PR.
Unfortunately/fortunately it would appear nobody really cares.
I'd say that was probably his plan alright, but it's backfired badly.
Shels is a badly wounded animal amongst what is considered an endangered species (Eircom League clubs). Looking for investors when you're on a high and have a positive story to sell is one thing. Going out with the begging bowl when you're on your last legs and your reputation is shot to pieces is just too little too late. No right minded investor would put anything into the mess that Shels are at the moment. And any that did would do it at a ridiculously low fire-sale price. Either way, Ollie's desperation is pungent and will see Shels being sold short.
The question is, why didn't he make such a concerted effort when the club was on a high and he'd good news to sell, rather than bad...?
Just go into the transfer thread and look at the amount of players that have left and who they are. Basically they have no squad left.
On another note stu, well spotted that the bookies were asleep the other day regarding the setanta cup group betting. got cork 6/4 on boyles.. they have changed now allright..
nice one man.. i dont even have to buy you a pint! glory be to the internet!
Excuse my ignorance, but the best way to dispel it is to ask the question: what is Ossie Kilkenny's interest in Shels and/or Tolka?
Ollie sold him first option (I think that's the phrase) on Tolka. Kilkenny will buy the lease off Ollie when the land is rezoned and Shels are in Morton (or wherever) and build on it. He's forwarded some of the money that will be due to Shels, funding Ollie's recent spending, but has stopped recently causing the current money woes.
That's my understanding of the situation anyway, no doubt other posters are better informed.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
Only in good ol' Eire could the chairman of the nationa sports council own
the principal football stadium in the country and plan to "develop" it![]()
