    away day in dublin

The following is fact and did take place!

The day city travelled to dublin to play rovers and were beaten 4-1,the team flew from cork to dublin on the friday and arrived in dublin at approx. 10 o clock. the team were based for the day in one of the hotels in the airport grounds (player wasnt sure which one). They walked from terminal to hotel carryiny thier gear on thier backs where they sat around for about 6 hours with nothing to do except talk! then they were transported by taxi not bus across dublin rush hour traffic on a friday. Some of the taxis were late arriving at the hotel and some got delayed in traffic meaning some players got into ground 20 mins before kick off so no real warm up or loosing out done. Then gunthers inspiring words before they left the dressingroom "go out and kick those dublin ****s" a team talk and a half
This is the new professional city it wouldent happen in the msl

Christ, this would be absolutely laughable except that it's true and it's happening to us. Why can't s**t ever happen to the Jackeens? We sure take more than our fair share down here!

The hotel was the Great Southern or the Skylon. To be fair, I heard that the players were supposed to have the use of the Aer Lingus sports club, but there was a snafu there.

btw, Conor O'Grady travelled up by the 1:45 train in the company of Noel Spillane, and then got a taxi out to the hotel.

The train journey might have been more advisable for all.....

I would have thought the train would be the best option, gives them time to stretch their legs etc. Plane is very cramped surely. Plane better than a bus, but a train best option of all I would have thought

    Red face

Sounds like a bad planned day out. Hopefully given this is a new thing to the club they'll learn from it.

Could the manager not find something for the players to do for the day? Maybe some discussions on tactics, watch the cup final video of rovers or something...

yeah, any new approach will take time to get right, and IMO it is a step in the right direction.
