Yup same here, only 18 here and only over the last 2-3 years have I started listening to music 24/7

I only got into Rage Against The Machine in late '05, my favourite band of all time now.

Don't like RATM. My wife does though. While I admire the sentiment I just don't like the music.
Try "The Coup" - radical hip-hop group. The main man, Boots Reilly is actually forming a new group with Tom Morrello of RATM who appears on a track on the Coups latest album "Pick a bigger Weapon".

I personally prefer Safe as Milk, as the compilation I have covers the Safe as Milk, so that was my introduction to him. I guess it's more accessible.
TMR is alot more expansive and experimental.

Now now Paul. You DO know Quiet Riot, Motley Crue and Faster fcukin' Pussycat are in no way, shape, form nor influence Punk bands now don't you? ...don't you? ...Paul?
they have a punky method/dis-organisation about them/the voices are sorta high pitched like punk, but thats as far as it goes......

All those bands at least cite the Ramones as an influence as do G'n'R and Bon Jovi

the ramones are quite good, I dont think they fall into the punk category completely, somewhere more borderline, and they hadn't that typically crap punk sound either.

RATM are not punk! so he is safe from the socialist grasp of BohsPartisan!

I guess you had to be there; but trust me, at the dawn of punk rock, the Ramones were the template

    No, was genuinely curious

What's elitist about pointing out that Green Day aren't punk?? If I point out that a rhinoceros isn't a little pony but is in fact a rhinoceros am I then some kind of animal elitist

Well I can only add some albums I had been too young to appreciate when they were originally released.

SCOTT by Scott Walker; SCOTT 2 by Scott Walker; SCOTT 3 by Scott Walker; SCOTT 4 by Scott Walker; 1967-1969

TEASER by Tommy Bolin and PRIVATE EYES by Tommy Bolin 1975 and 1976 During this period he replaced Richie Blackmore in Deep Purple and then Purple split in 1976. Tommy succumbed to a drug habit and died that December.

My favourite Punk album is NEVER MIND THE SKCOLLOB HERE'S THE SEX PISTOLS

Always thought it was a bit over-rated.

ha, kudos to you two for bringing him up. not familiar with him at ALL but read lots about his latest 'the drift' which is supposed to be all kinds of bombastic and apocalyptic. he takes ten years to record each album yes? fascinating and weird, already i like him. but mate said i would probably have a problem with the, ahhh, more operatic qualities of his voice?? curious anyway.
