He did very well, he's exactly the type of player Wolves need. He'll start every match when he's fit, even when Fletcher comes back. He did a great job on the right hand side of attack, closing down defenders well and making intelligent runs. Too bad he's wasted at a club like Wolves who have no chance of competing for anything.
its great that doyle does a lot of defensive work but i want to see him more in the box a bit more scoring goals especially for ireland. he never really looks threatening, we dont want him to turn into a dirk kuyt type. a worker but not a scorer.

2. KEVIN DOYLE, Wolves
Though far from the most prolific of strikers, to judge Kevin Doyle on goals alone would be to ignore the many other facets of his game that make him the player he is.
An incredibly hard-working, resilient striker, Doyle is one of the league’s finest when it comes to leading the line and providing an outlet for team-mates in that 4-5-1 system. It’s a lonely role, but Doyle performs it selflessly. A stripped-down-but-no-less-functional iPod nano to the Ipad that is Didier Drogba, if you will.
A revelation at Reading after joining from Cork City for a mere £78,000, Doyle’s tireless running and incredibly selfless displays were central to Wolves escaping relegation last season. His 9 goals in 34 appearances were also a help, of course.
The video in the article is a stark reminder of how good Doyle's technique is, and what an all-round quality footballer he is. Great in the air despite not being that tall, takes a fantastic penalty, and is comfortable smashing the ball into the net with either foot. Some of the goals in there are excellent. Im probably going to get slated for this, but if I had to choose I would have Robbie over Doyler. At the end of the day, you want your strikers to score goals and the reality is that Robbie is far more likely to get you goals than Doyle. If Doyle could add another 5/6 goals to his season tally then he would be top class.
Elroy, I think it's an issue of lack of service and the fact that he plays up front on his own quite a bit.
If he played in a top half Premier League team and had more creative players around him to set him up I'd bank on him getting more goals. He's a good finisher.
Yeah, I think the fact he's with Wolves makes it harder for him to score goals. If he was with Everton for example (cause Yakubu is dire), he'd have much better support.
Without a doubt. Very tidy finisher.
The Yak is a sublime finisher when fully fit, but I think his days of full fitness may be in the past (there's no way in hell he's only 27). There's definitely a vacancy in Everton's strikeforce with Saha also on his way out, Anichebe permanently injured and James Vaughan not considered up to snuff.
I think the only way Doyle would get a move from Wolves is if he forced one, which isn't his style. I doubt Mick would sell him for less than $10-million, and I doubt any team would pay that for him.
Perhaps if they were relegated Doyle could move on, but otherwise he'll be with Wolves for the long term.
Missed a great chance for Wolves just before half time. Again he looks out of sorts. I can see McCarthy dropping him if he fails to score soon. Good to see Stephen Hunt warming up (and getting serious stick from the Chelsea halfwits). Hunt on second half and Doyle is having a much better game now. Would love to see Hunt score and shut up the Chelsea morons

He certainly needs to start scoring if they are to get out of the relegation zone,
there is a 5 point gap now, however a few more points and you are mid table.
Still at least he has opened his account, no great surprise it was a header.

Weird game today. Was invisible for large stretches of the second half which in fairness his whole team in general was. Looks like there is little cohesion with Wolves in the attacking zone at times. They could have tied it up late.
