Ambitious Sweeney targeting silverware
Vincent Sweeney insists he joined Cliftonville to win trophies - and that starts with seeing off Glentoran in the County Antrim Shield semi-final tomorrow night. The ex-Limavady United and Ballymena United hitman moved to Solitude in a deal that saw Sean Friars switch to the Roesiders for the remainder of the season and he already has medals on his mind.
Despite not finding the target on his debut in the goalless draw against Linfield on Saturday, Sweeney showed enough to give Reds boss Eddie Patterson hopes he could prove the perfect foil for Chris Scannell in attack. "I left Limavady on the best of terms but I am 25-years-old and I wanted to come to Cliftonville because they have a genuine chance of winning trophies," said Sweeney.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
They won't win much with Sweeney playing up front....I don't think he's IL standard!
