Well said bellavistaman. Ramblers will have in place an excellent ground. It will be far better than anything similar clubs to us have to offer and having decent facilities goes a long way to attracting decent players.

Hopefully it won't be too long, I heard it will probably be a few months yet due to a backlog of orders at the plant we are purchasing from.
Delighted to have the games back in st colemans though. We need home games to be at home to get the crowds and the funds.
It looks like there will be good weather this summer so no doubt we will all want to be in the north terrace catching the rays instead of sitting in the shade of the new stand. Once it is up for October to shelter form the rain I'll be happy!

    Thumbs up Patience...

    Hello all.
Through contacts in the FAI, I know a little about the state of play with the stand. The delays in completion are basically down to:

    1. Delays with the release of lottery grant funding (about 2-3 months).
    2. Problems caused with the floodlights being installed at the same time as the stand (which wasn't originally expected).
    3. Problems caused by the local builder who is looking after the pitch wall, stand foundations, steps, etc.
    4. Design/construction problems brought about by the slope on the ground and the 'wedge' shape of the stand.
    5. Delays with steelwork fabrication.

All of this is essentially out of the club's control. Let's keep it real, be patient with the management and look forward to an improved home for the Rams very soon.

Lads that new stand looks like its going to be far too near the pitch wall. Are Cobh planning on putting seats in there? It looked very narrow from what I saw

I said its too near the pitch wall, hence why I don't think it will be able to fit 5 rows of comfortable seats

no problem there unles your 7 feet tall, and youll only be walking up and down it so you only need room to walk not to lie down

    Lightbulb New Stand

Lads, I've seen the drawings. The stand has 900 seats or so, plus a media area. Because of the layout of the ground, the pitch wall is not parallel with the boundary. So the stand will be 6 rows deep at the top end, reducing to only 3 rows at the bottom end. The seating will be quite steep, so the view from the back row towards the top end should be class

Nice to see that St. Colman's was back in use last night, even though the new lights probably have most of the town lit up. Three wins on the trot and three clean sheets, the bad start to the season is long forgotten....

    Jebus,
I'd imagine that the people who designed the stand would allow for a walkway in front of the stand (1.25 metres?) by the pitch wall, I don't know if there'll be a walkway at the back row of seats but I guess there should be.
I heard that the original design allowed for the stand to over hang the boundary wall but this must have been scrapped.
Anyway the new lights look class and I guess the widening of the pitch has helped Ramblers play although it might be hard to judge given that the Ramblers players had all the room in the world near the end.

well my opinion on te new stand is that 900 seats is a terribly low number f seats to be putting in there i know we are not barca or man u but its a 80-100 meters long right and a seat takes up prob 1 ft wide 3 ft leg room surley that wud make for loads of seats, just looking at the turners cross figures and it says that the derrnane road side of the x holds 1100, granted theres no press area in that, i too heard the stand was going to pertrude over the dawn view footpath but its obivious thats not happening now... is there anywhere we can see plans???
anotheer thing is that the uncovered side is vastly reduced in size near te dressing rooms which will cause the same problem as the top stand where it goes from 10 rows of seats all the way down to a solitary row of seats..

by the way the ground bar the pitch looked extremly professional last night one of the best in the 1st div without doubt,

finally are they naming the new stand rumours are "tony lane memorial stand"

ya its the tony lane memorial stand, they had a benefit match in december for it over 35s played.

i think 900 plus 500 on the old stand (as it now is the old one) brings the ground up to 1400 seated, with two ends yet to be developed, hopefully we'll know by the end of the season if the north terrace will be done, and then the biggest stand at the clubhouse end will be done last, the topping of it all, we will have a 5000 seater ground, which is all we'll need for the next ten years or so

also does the old stand have a name, if not why dont they name it, have a competition in the schools, marco get a move on.

or they should give all suporters a chance to make a suggestion at a future home game, if it goes to schools we could end up with a "dora the explorer" stand!

agreed fully 5000 seats is loads for us really is. but who likes watching a game from behind the goals really? but the stand by the club house sounds very impressive..

wats wrong with DORA? it gives a sense of adventure doesnt it ha ha

passed the ground earlier and they had a tractor with forks pitchin holes in the ground, so should help the surface a bit, i heard they had to wait till the new sod was hard enough to pitch it as it would tear it up otherwise, must say the surface does look better even though it was half done when i passed
