Ports Miss Out at Shamrock

PORTADOWN missed out on the opportunity to move into joint top of the Carnegie Premier League when they squandered a New Years Day two-goal advantage at home to Cliftonville.
Allan Smart headed the Ports into the lead after just three minutes in what was the first goal of 2007 and doubled his tally before the half-hour mark with a second header from a John Convery ball. However, in what was a classic game of two halves, Cliftonville came storming back after the break when John O'Loughlin and Ronan Scannell levelled to earn a well deserved share of the spoils for Eddie Patterson's side. At Holm Park Crusaders were forced to come from behind to earn all three points against Armagh City.
