    Unhappy Rio De Janeiro Violence?

Hi everybody, I am concerned for a few of my friends who arrived in Rio this morning after reading in the papers and online that 19 people were killed in overnight rioting.

I knew before they went how dangerous Brazil is but are these riots usually between rival gangs or will it be very unsafe for my friends to be anywhere in Rio??

Normally all the gang trouble is kept out of the tourist areas, its all in one part (a fairly large part alright) of the City. Didn't hear much about it to be honest?
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

They had their camera stolen and a riot broke out beside them on the beach they were on New Years night! I thought the trouble would be in the papers more over here, seems to be just in the weekend papers from what i make of it,

Definitely ... great film, also worth a watch is Tsotsi, set in Johannesburg ... along similar lines, another quality film.

I only heard about that 'City of God' film the other day so ill have to take a look.

They have 3 more weeks left, Camera was snatched from one of them while she was taking a picture of the others on Copacabana Beach new years eve so they went up to the other big beach beside it were John Legend was playing and a big riot broke in the middle of them!!

They've moved from Rio now so hopefully things improve!

Ill be getting that film soon thanks
