Mascherano wants to quit West Ham

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...td/6230031.stm

West Ham made a big mistake not using him more. He is one of the best midfielders in the world IMO. Nigel Quashie as a replacement.

He'd be a good loan signing for a lot of clubs looking to build a bigger squad for the rest of the reason, would give them a good chance to see if he is really up to the standard of the EPL.

He was up to the standard of the World Cup! Granted the style/tempo of the play is different it is to adapt to that playing in the holding midfield role.

Yes he was up to it in the world cup, and every other match he has played at international level, but so far has not produced it with West Ham... It could be his attitude that Pardew and now Curbishly now don't like ?

He hasn't been given a proper run in the team. He's only started 5 games and has made 2 sub apperances. It looks like to me that Pardew never wanted him. If he was playing regularly he would be one of the best performers in the league.

That's all we need, Gerrard back out on the right. Mascherano would be a waste cos we don't need him. Can't see Sissokko getting back in with the way we're playing at the moment, so why buy Mascherano? Hopefully it's paper talk.

Aparently the board met on tuesday ( i think im still in holiday mode dont even know what day it is today )to disscuss it ,the arabs dont want any money spent because they are looking for a 300 mill mortgage for the stadium and with an £80 mill + debt allready they dont need it raised any higher .

I hope Utd come in for him im sick of watching great players get ruined at liverpool

    Javier Mascherano
Fifa look ready to scupper Liverpool's attempt to sign Javier Mascherano on a loan deal, despite reports indicating that the Argentinian midfielder is close to a move to Merseyside.

Mascherano looks set to become one of the first departures under new West Ham boss Alan Curbishley after failing to adjust to life in the Premiership since his shock transfer deadline day signing from Corinthians.

The holding midfielder has pleaded with The Hammers to let him seek pastures new, and Reds boss Benitez has reputedly offered Mascherano an escape route from his Upton Park malaise.

Widespread reports in the English media indicate that talks regarding a loan switch to Anfield are at an advanced stage, but Fifa rules prohibit a player from appearing for three separate sides in the same season.

Now a spokesman for the governing body has confirmed that the rules will not be broken to facilitate Mascherano's potential move to Merseyside.

"The rules are very clear. Article 5.3 states that, although a player can be registered for a maximum of three clubs during the period from 1st July to 30th June, he is only eligible to play in official matches for two clubs in this period," a Fifa spokesman told The Times.

"In the case of Mascherano or [Carlos] Tevez, they have already played for Corinthians and West Ham United.

"The rule is binding. It cannot be deactivated just because it suits the clubs and the player in a certain instance.

"These rules were drawn up to protect the interests of players and clubs and to provide more stability in football.

"If a case was formally submitted to the Fifa bodies, then of course the Fifa bodies would look at it, but the view from our legal department is very clear that the regulations cannot be broken."

There's a lot more worng at West Ham than just Tevez and Mascherano. First Reo-Coker and the squad rebel against Pardew, and now they are apparantly showing no respect towards Curbishley, even to the point where he got involved in a shoving match at half time in the tunnel with Anton Ferdinand.

Mascherano never got a fair chance at West Ham and would be a good gigning for any club, including Liverpool. Apparantly Juventus are trailing Sissoko anyway, so maybe this is Liverpool's replacement?

My one fear about Mascherano coming on board would be that it could mean Xabi Alonso is on his way out

BTW (And I'll admit before typing this that I've seen far less of Liverpool this season then I should) from what I have seen am I the only Liverpool fan on the planet who can see what a patently superior player Xabi Alonso is to "Stevie G"

Thank you Lord! You ae not alone LTID. If I was to lose Gerrard to Chelsea for 30m or Alonso I'd lose Gerrard. He was muck against Arsenal. He just is not a central midfielder, he is an attacking player. I'm sick of having to listen to the Gerrard shyte hype from sky and bbc and the like. I hope Benitez sticks to his guns, Mascherano will be a good signing be it now or the summer. Its my belief that if Gerrard leaves Liverpool, rather than destroying them, it would liberate them. Benitez rates Sissoko and has faith in Alonso. I've no doubt that once Momo is back up and running he will revert to him and Alonso as his pairing with Gerrard playing further forward or on the right.

Don't mind Mrs Lawrenson. He's more interested in his stand-up career these days. Always looking for the cheap laugh with a double-entendre.
