    FAI site - Limerick

Have just seen a post on the FAI about invitations from any Limerick team to join the league. Check it out, unreal!

The FAI clearly want a Limerick team in the league. The club in it's current state seems to have no chance due to numerous factors, so why not advertise for interested parties?

Surely if there is a club that needs help and assistance to get themselves into the club the FAI should be helping them instead of trying to establish a new club.

There seems to be some idea that a new club in the area will automatically be a success just the because its new?

IMO that doesnt say much for how the FAI are going about running the league.

That's old news lads, we've known about that since the start of the week. Was in the national papers then.

This is the biggest challenge to any new club, beating this stupid and ill considered deadline.

Looks like confirmation of a place for Wallace Youths FC.

So next year's First Division will have two completely new football clubs (unless a Junior club in Limerick steps up). Asking a lot to expect them to be up and running, to a higher standard than the current Limerick FC, with 3 months to go before the start of the season.

tbh i doubt anyones looking for them to be of a higher standard from day one... just so long as they offer a better prospect in the medium to long term..

There's a few of us in Limerick who reckon that a team has already been sorted out to take our spot, although really I don't see how anyone can expect a junior club to be able to gain more fans, attention, success in the long term as one flying under the city name could. I for one wouldn't be bothered with supporting Pike, Fairview etc. if they step up to the Eircom League, and I doubt that clubs who are basically community teams could attract new fans from all over the city and county

If say Pike applied and succeded, I doubt if the FAI would allow them enter as Pike Rovers. They'd surely insist on any team being representative of Limerick as a whole.

I just think they are looking for a team which can provide a steady ground for growth no matter where they finish in the league at the end of the season..

It will be seen as a success as they are the new boys in the league and any win/draw will boost the profile of the league... its alot to do with marketing as well.

They can't until someone comes in and takes over the ownership of the club from Danny Drew. Until then they will not be in the eL.
If you don't like John 3:7...
    There's always Limerick 37!

I take it that's an assumption?

They do the FAI (John Delaney) hate him?

What exactly is the reason for the demise of the relationship between Danny Drew and the FAI?

    And more importantly,
can a row between 2 people lead to a club being thrown out of the league?
Is this how the FAI plans to run things?

There are not many people who I would oppose in a row with John Delaney.

However, he's probably right in smiting Danny Drew.

"Hes probably right" isnt good enough though. This isn't south american football at all like. I know JD isnt gunning the guy down in a car park but its way out of line here. No matter what way you look at it, JD has his own agenda here and is not shy in exercising it.

You'd have to ask what god given right does JD have over Danny Drew in the league/irish football ?? He seems to have an axe to grind with the guy and he does come off looking the more shady of the two ...... but does JD not realise that the FAI have looked shady for a couple of decades now, and he has done nothing yet to change that (i know he might say otherwise but remember the general public dont believe everything on his say so).
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
