    McGuinness plays Acting Role

Following the departure of General Secretary Fran Gavin to take up the role as FAI Director of the eircom League of Ireland, the PFAI announce former chairman Stephen McGuinness as acting General Secretary until a new appointment is announced in early 2007. McGuinness is currently the PFAI Players Relations Officer, he's been on the Management Committee for the past eight years and he was Chairman of the Association between 2001-2005.

The new acting General Secretary has won every honour in the domestic game in a 15 year career with Home Farm, St Patrick's Athletic, Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
