Thats the playing Budget to include any transfers. Transfer fees between el clubs are very rare since the bosman ruling.

Marks was 10 years ago and Murphs was under 23 . The amount of players out of Contract means its easy to pick up players for free.
I think we got €11000 for bobby but I could be wrong, considering Im just after around 15 pints !!!! FREEDOM !!!!!!!!
10,000 for Bobby and took quite a long time to actually get it.
if you look at derry paying €22000 for murphs, I have to say that gethins is a bargin at 30g's
I think we would need someone with a real physical presense to play up front with Gethins as the team have a tendancy to start hitting long balls up field and Gethins although game is not strong enough to compete with most of the centre halves in the league.
A big tall strong player would be ideal to play with conor as he could make himself a nuisance for the defence and knock more balls down to conor which will help us create more chances and inevitability score more goals

Don't know how true this is, but I heard in Donegal today that Harps turned down an offer from Shamrock Rovers for Conor Gethins in the last week also - apparently the offer from Rovers was a lot higher to that of Galway's. As I said, I don't know how true this is, but if it is, it is good to see that Harps are trying to hold onto Gethins. Apparently, Paul Hegarty who was appointed Harps boss today is a big fan of Gethins and they both live in the same town (Lifford).
Bring back David O'Dowd! I have not seen a more commited / enthusiastic and determined player (striker) play for Galway in the last couple of years.
He worked tirelssly leading the line, getting flick on, putting defenders under pressure and was out first line of defence. His performance against Finn Harps was outstanding. And to his credit, he also chipped in with his faie share of goals.
He is a player we will miss.
(Some contributors will, no doubt, have a go at me for looking back as opposed to looking forward, but I just feel that O'Dowd will be a huge loss. On last season performances would you choose Murphy or O'Dowd?)
I don't think D O'D could reach anything close to the levels of performance - potentially - that Murph could reach in the Premier.
Heard on the radio that Jim Crawford has turned down the Shels job, saying it was the hardest decision of his career. Maybe he is on his way here, a Shels exodus could now be on the cards.
Galway United - Connacht Champions 2008
I don't think Crawford would do a great job for us to be honest.
On last seasons performances and contributions dave would have to be picked ahead of murphs as he did trojan work and chipped in with a good few goals and i'm disappointed that he has gone cos he honestly gave everything he could, anytime he was called on.
The problem is we have to look at this season as opposed to last season as ya said and i feel murphs has the ability to improve a lot more. I think that when ya combine both premier league and full time football we will see the real murphs next year. HOPEFULLY

We've all heard alot of rumours about Stephen O Flynn possibly joining UTD.

It'd be good for ye if ye signed O'Flynn as well....
... Irritating pedantry aside, Merry Xmas GUFC, and Good Luck in the Premier.
