    The Genesis Report.

How things have blown up in the FAI's nasty faces... I'll admit I wasn't on Keanes side at the time of the Saipan fiasco but after reading the report I am now 100% convinced he was right and what he did may create a new bright future for Irish football.
The FAI is run like a burger van in temple bar on a cold winter night that sells Ice Cream when thousands of people are passing by and all they want is a hot burger. Football is a thriving business and as such requires business minded people to run it.

Menton should be the first in a long line of muppet departures from Merrion square and in their place we should get an assortment of experianced finance, marketing and development executives. There are dozens of suitable candidates around the country who would jump at the chance of mixing their proffesional abilities with their love of the game. But what gaurantee do we have that the FAI will take the recommendations on board, well based on history: NONE.
Personally I think we the fans will ultimetly have to take action such as boycotts to save the game, because we all know as well as the next man/woman that the FAI is unlikely to do us any favours.

If the FAI are to get up to scratch then they need to bring in a visionary leader with the experiance to do the job, an ideal candidate whould be the former chief exec of the English FA Adam Crozier. But with a setup as backward as the one we have there would be more chance of Arsne Wenger taking Mick MC Carthys old seat... Irish football RIP - but there is hope thanks in no small part to Mr. Keane!
Personally I blame Bertie for all our problems, he couldn't manage an under 10's league team never mind a country....

Just read that summary of the report & with regards the actual World Cup i don't think the FAI come off that badly - says the Saipan decision was well thought out beforehand & they had a 5 star hotel etc...

It does criticise the whole admin structure of the FAI which i see as a separate matter.

Interestingly it says the players were told at Niall Quinns testimonial that Siapan was for a rest & acclimatisation although RK wasn't present at that match. They seem to suggest RK over reacted although him leaving the squad was only a matter of time anyway such was the way it was building up.

Another thing is that with the advent of this report it is likely that many candidates for manager will want to avoid the Ireland job till things settle down here and the FAi get on track

Some times I wonder are you for real....... Irish football has been screwed by bertie and co...... from lack of investment in the eL for development of grounds, the refusal to give funds for eP because of the Bertie Bowl, The promised millions to force the FAI to back away from eP, Bertie Bowl being flushed down the, eh, bowl, and now none of the promised funds coming through....... At the same time the sectarian GAA have got Croke Park practically totally funded by the Government......

Not that the FAI are of course blameless but speculation was that divisions about EP arose in the FAI alone party politics lices i.e. Bertie got the FF'ers to toe the FF party line.

Without Bertie & his Bowl + FAI getting similar grants as the GAA & i still believe EP would have had a good chance of construction.

I am not talking about Eriksson or Beckham, I am talking about the restructuring work the English FA did on all levels of the game. From schoolboy acadamies to comercialising the international players to make funds available for the whole system. The development and structure was copied from the French who improved upon the original Dutch design. The fruits from the groundwork Crozier put in place wont be visible for at least another 10 years but when they are we will become very, very jealous unless we get our thumbs out of our asses and do the same.

    by the way,

Erikssons managerial record speaks for itself and though I'm a Villa fan who hates his faggotty guts Beckham IS a World Class player. As for the 26 Counties......

Or you could just go to the FAI or Irish Times site and get it.
    Or, Summary Report:
    FAI are a shambles.
    They should all resign.
    Saipan should never have happened.
RK was proved right on what he said.
McCarthy was a little poodle who should have spoke up and got things sorted. But he was a nice guy and he can't be blamed.
They should do a lot of things in the future.

    Result of Report:
    Menton resigns.
    Loads of talk.
The Heineken rep will continue to be the boss of soccer in this country.
They will do nothing as usual.

I assume this is just the summary that was published yesterday and not the FULL report?

Exactly. Look at the amount of managers who've ruled themselves out: O'Leary, O'Neill, Toshack, Kinnear. At this rate the shortlist for the job will be the shortest one in history.
