It's all over now,he forced his way into the fai wearing a dundalk shirt and scarf put up a banner saying Dundalk fans demand answers he poured petrol all over the the inside of the building and himself and started shouting and demanding answers about the fai's treatment of dundalk through the years. he was holding a lighter and can of petrol all the time. Enter John Gill, Giller talked to the looney and seemed to know him. he referred to him as Maxi, Maxi told Gill he was the best manager Dundalk ever had before dropping the lighter and being arressted.
I hope you all would have been prepared to go to the lenghts Maxi has if we hadnt been invited to take our place in the premier division.

More irresponsible journalism in the Sun today. Maxi made the front page but in the article inside the rag it explains that his sad attempt at an arson attack was carried out because "Dundalk were over looked in favour of Galway United despite winning a play-off for promotion to the newly formed FAI Premiership.
They go on to say that "the FAI have not revealed why they chose GU ahead of DFC but the financial situations of both clubs are believed to be a factor"

1st The playoff was never for promotion it was for points on the playing side of the assesment criteria. It might have seemed futile but if Waterford had won the would have surpassed our points total and remained in the premier. Dundalks 4 year record was so bad that it was clear to everyone that the 20 points on offer for winning the playoff were never going to be enough to to "promote" them.
2nd Apart from the fact that there was no promotion or relegation this season the reason dundalk were not "promoted" was that they failed to surpass GU's points total in their off field assesment and on field over the last 4 years.
The standard of journalism in this country is a joke, i wouldnt expect much from a rag like the sun but RTE and The Independant have also been responsible for ignoring the facts over the last few days. It's just lazy reporting. The BBC on the other hand can research the situation and report properly on it.

Lads - In fairness to Maaaaaxi he did uncover that it was a conspiracy between the FAI and Galway. What the hell were you guys doing sending Christmas cards to the FAI.

I also read the Sun today - pretty poor reporting of the facts. They appear unaware that there is a new league starting and Craptown failed miserably in the criteria.

Great to have you guys back and best of luck on going full time. I wonder will Tony C be able to tempt some Drogs players down (across)?? He seemed vey popular with the lads when he was Doolo's assistant.
Hunky Dorys Park - could be worse, we could be going to Old Trafford every other week

Just noticed that now. They did seem to have a grasp of the criteria for inclusion in the Premier Division though. Which is more than more than most reporters in this country have bothered to do

They like to think they know it all but the fact is a lot of the journos in these papers are more interested in the UK footie and paper never refuses ink...a sad thing here is that the BBC report said the same about lighting the fire so the shoddy work of some ****head has travelled far and wide
