Fair point. Three league titles in 4 years is just unacceptable. What the fcuk are we dong signing an under-achiever like that....?!?!

There have been many discussions on this board about how Richardson and Kenny seemed to be able to prepare teams better for Europe so I'm not trying to be a WUM or anything. The real test of a manager comes when you don't have the best squad around and with so much more money than everyone else, it should be expected that Shels would be favourites every year and would be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.
Pete asked how Fenlon will perform on a much smaller transfer budget, and a much tighter wage structure and I think it's a good point. He won't have the option of bringing in cover players on much more money than first teamers in other clubs (Alan Reynolds for example). Is he going to move to Derry? Will he want to bring in more players who will move to Derry? I'm not saying he isn't a good choice, but at the end of the day I think Derry won't have as good a manager next season as they did this season. Anyone from Derry want to maybe give a reasoned summary of pros and cons as they see it perhaps?

It's an interesting move for Fenlon - the easy option in terms of resources etc would have been to go to Bohs, but there's no doubting his track record in recent years.

Irrespective of budgets, the manager still has to connect with the players and get them winning. There's no doubting he has done that, particularly this season, and maybe the challenge of probably a tighter budget was part of what attracted him

I love the way he gets threatened with a ban for talking rubbish, but Gareth or Pat doesn't. And all the Shels fans still think they're a big club even after everything that's been predicted has started to come true.

    Pros and Cons ??

We lost a very good manager to Scottish football. We're replacing him with the most successful Manager in Irish football this side of the millenium. We can all conject about what might have happened had our dad's been our mum's etc, but speculation means feck all.

That's the pros and cons in a nut shell....

Nail on the head Steve...Looking forward to hear Pat's press conference tomorrow. He has already mentioned how excited he is taking over our fantastic squad...Can't wait now to see who he may be adding to the panel as well...

Oh - and he's moving to to the City as well, with family to follow in June once the school year ends......

Maybe a significant portion of Shel's limited support will also switch allegiances now. Though only once the school year ends in June......

You have to remember that the Shels forum is hosted in some sort of Bizarro world so the normal rules of sense and logic do not apply.

One thing about Ollie he sticks to his word

What I want to know is what action the militant Shels fans will take now that there are no more games this season and they don't have any more programmes to print?

Ordinary World - Ollie's lament for Pat

Came in from a rainy Friday
    On the Richmond Rd
Thought I heard Pat talking softly

I turned on the lights, the TV
    And the radio
Still I can't escape the ghost of you

What has happened to it all?
    Crazy, some are saying
Where is the Pat that I recognize?
    Gone away

But I won't cry for yesterday
    There's an ordinary world
    Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
    To the ordinary world
    I will learn to survive

    Passion or coincidence
    Once prompted you to say
"Broken promises will tear us both apart"
Well now Pat's gone out the window
    Cross the border
    Run away
Left me in the vacuum of my heart

    What is happening to me?
    Crazy, some'd say
Where is my Pat when I need him most?
    Gone away

But I won't cry for yesterday
    There's an ordinary world
    Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
    To the ordinary world
    I will learn to survive

    Papers in the roadside
    Tell of suffering and greed
    Here today, forgot tomorrow
    Ooh, here besides the news
Of unpaid wages and bouncing cheques
Ours is just a little sorrowed talk

And I don't cry for yesterday
    There's an ordinary world
    Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
    To the ordinary world
    I will learn to survive

    Shelbourne…
Is my world, I will learn to survive
    Shelbourne…
Is my world, I will learn to survive
    Shelbourne…
    Is my world
    Shelbourne…
    Is my world
