Appointed manager at Waterford this evening.
I saw Chesterfield were on the look-out for a new manager and he was the first person I thought of. They did relatively well under him before, and as far as non-elite clubs go, they've got significant potential.

Appointed manager of Oldham for the sixth time (including two caretaker spells)
That has to be some sort of record?
Indeed. And on one of those yesterdays you speak of the peanut brained Sheridan opined that the League of Ireland was a pub league (while he was flopping there which says plenty) and pretended not to know the name of his opposing manager. I'd imagine sidewayspasser was making a vaguely cryptic reference to that.
Something I didn't know about Mo Johnston's infamous transfer to Rangers in 1989 - according to this article on football365, the press had been informed that it was actually Sheridan (then with Sheffield Wednesday) that was signing for them - https://www.football365.com/news/mo-...h-football-jfk
When journalists were summoned to Ibrox for a Graeme Souness press conference, in which the Rangers boss would unveil a high-profile Catholic signing, the hacks showed up in a nonchalant mood. Their contacts had given them all the same name: Sheffield Wednesday’s Republic of Ireland midfielder John Sheridan.
I always smile when I see the Sheridan thread has been updated. One of the absolute characters of Irish football in the past 50 years.
Even this is glorious. I never knew the particulars (behind the scenes) about Mo Johnston's transfer.

Perhaps John Sheridan deserves a chance at the Republic of Ireland Job ! !
Because he was a very classy player. A beautiful passer of the ball in an Irish team not known for their passing game.
I really wish his chip against Norway had gone in. Would’ve shown to the world just how classy he was.
Or even his effort against Italy for that matter
Probably true. His assists against England and the North in the months after the 94 World Cup were top drawer too.
And for a while it looked like he'd be a decent manager too. But his temperament seems to have held him back there if nothing else
