No mention of figures or anything. Does any of this money filter to the clubs? What's the prize money for winning the cup?

The new FAI Cup trophy which will be presented next year will be an exact replica of the present one. People were wondering what it would look like on another thread if I am not mistaken.
What's the point in retiring the other one then?

It's 85 years old?
All the more reason to keep it. A historic trophy.

I assmue there's no more room to inscribe winners' names. Usual reason trophies get retired.
That is a good reason to keep using it.
And the winners' names will go where...?
That's why the World Cup trophy was replaced from 1974, and will be replaced again in a few tournaments' time.
The trophy is going to a National Football museum which will be set up in the FAI's new HQ in Abbotstown apparently according to one paper I read.
I think that was just a convenient coincidence. Although Wikipedia notes that it's unkonwn if the current World Cup trophy will be retired in 2038 when the base gets filled in; thought that had been confirmed.

forget replacing the Fai cup we need a new league trophy the current one is crap looks really mickeymouse
they may be a bit worried about the cups condition its probably getting a bit dented![]()
I like the way they keep adding bases to the Stanley Cup even though they have replaced the trophy twice. Something the FAI should consider although it wouldn't have the same comical effect as with the Stanely as they include the anmes of all the players on that trophy.

The Stanley Cup looks ludicrous.
