    Henrik Larsson to Man U

    From a friend

Rumours in the Swedish media that "Henke" is being loaned out from Helsingborg to Man U until March- more when I get it.

he didnt exactly punch the lights out ( well except for on one occasion!!) in sweden but the man is super fit and probably has a bit more to give at the highest level..
Was he crazy!! Yeah , in a very special way , an Irishman.

Great signing by Utd. Natural goalscorer even at 35. Looking forward to seeing him in the Premiership even if it is for THEM.

Saw him on TV recently playing for Helsingborg and to be honest
he didn't look all that bothered. Having said that his movement
and fitness was still streets ahead of the rest of the players and he
looked to be playing more of a midfield role.

Because he's so small, quick and a great finisher people overlook his heading abilities. IMO he's one of the best headers of the ball in the world and a quarter of his goals for Celtic were headers. At least 50 anyway.

He's still averaged more than a goal every other game and has chipped in with a good few assists. His arrival lifted Helsingborgs up the table to a UEFA Cup spot and he also inspired them to a cup win. He's still working away with them in the Royal League at the moment. It's a bizarre move and I can't see the sense in it for him unless it's purely about financial gain. At this stage he hasn't had a proper rest since the summer of 2005 and will be skipping over his off season.

Not really. Helsingborg's good run in the league coincided with the arrival of Stuart Baxter as manager. Larsson also made a very public announcement about how much he doesn't want to play in the Royal League.

I agree with Ash. Anytime I've seen him play for Helsingborg is has far from impressed me.

What exactly did he say about the Royal League? Baxter is a good manager but you can't ignore Larsson's goalscoring and assist ratio. Your man Shelton has been doing well too.

He basically said the Royal League is a waste of time and that he has no interest in playing in it. A week after saying this he came out and say the exact opposite - obviously somebody at Helsingborg reminded him where he wages are coming from.

I agree that Larsson stats are quite impressive but its a poor league for the pedigree Larsson has and, being honest, he hasn't looked interested anytime I've seen him play. Your man Shelton has been doing all the running for him. I think if I was a Helsingborg fan I would expect more for a guy has just won the Champions League.

I'd think it's fairly certain that Helsingborgs will be "rewarded" for allowing him to go on loan.

Swedish league is very average & Larsson hasn't even been playing with one of the better sides. Will be interesting to see if he can make the step back up to the big time.

Get rid of Van Nistelrooy and bring in Larsson?

Alex has been a great strategist, but this confuses me.

    In slightly related news:

Italian sources are reporting that Becks is teaming with Glazer to buy the Los Angelese Galaxy for USD 20 million with the idea of "re-branding" them as "Manchester United USA".

Who next? Bobby Charlton Reminds me of Liverpool's signing of Fowler second time round. Every player (even the greats) have a "best by" date.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

5 months ago he was doing it for one of the best teams in the world. Not really an issue for me.

Larsson looks after himself and is in far better shape than Fowler part 2,for 3 months he should do a fantastic job for them.

Reminds me more of when Liverpool brought in Gary MacAllister. I think Larsson can have a similar impact.
