If he is putting Keane, Nakamura, Boruc and Zurawski in the same category then I don't see the problem as the latter 3 were definitely bought for their football abilities and the rest is a bonus. If he is seperating the Keane deal from the others than there is a problem as Keane was bought as a marketing ploy. I think Keane was definitely bought for his worth on the football pitch. After that it's Lawwell's job to try and make money out of him.
Lawwell is a huge fans favourite at Celtic so he'll get away with saying things like that but he'll certainly learn not to say it again.
