    Samsons cider

was one of my favourite drinks but in the last few months it just disappeared off the market...rumours of a fire in the factory destroying everything have circulated and it probably is true..whether we will see it on general sale again..its doubtful

anyway yesterday i was shocked to discover a friend of a friend had found a crate of it on sale about 12 miles outside sligo town..he bought it and they drank it in front of me[it hurt,it really did]

i managed to steal one when no one was looking though but i was wondering has anyone seen it on sale anywhere around ireland....its 6% alcohol, quite cheap and has a similar taste to bulmers so if i found it could save me money in the long term due to its low cost

so has anyone seen it on sale in the country in the last few weeks/months?

I used to drink Samsons when i was a lowly student !Havent seen it in a while now though Its not bad as far as your cheap cider goes , certainly a better proposition than Druids which I always found tougher to drink , Cant go wrong with Kopparberg these days though

Anyone know where the mixed fruits can be purchased? Only place that I know of is at the off-license at Meaghers pub in Ballybough.

Yes I remember it now- Samsons!!!!! For many months I have tried to remember what I had drunk that night! Much nicer than Druids, not as good as Bulmers but still does the job.

It's been withdrawen because they tried to sell it as a 'made-wine', when technically it should have been sold under some other term. They were paying less duty than they should have been.

Kopparberg is vile stuff anyway. Full of sugar and additives. (in the newer bottles I see they've removed the list of ingredients )

It's an alcopop being sold as a cider.
And yes it is vile, which is, I guess, a characteristic of alcopops.

    Smile Apple Of My... Mouth

Anyone notice that most UK ciders on sale here are full of sweetner & sulphites? Gimmie sugar (small doses) to sweetner any day! Bulmers, Linden Village, Devil's Bit & Druids for me. Kopperberg is over the top on sweet... a girl type drink lads... I've tried the pear & berry the once only thank the lord.

I suggest people try some proper real cider. I.E. not bulmers and all the god awful attempts at it.
