i reckon that the projected net intake for the fai per seat surely must be vastly greater than that achieved at landsdowne....

put simply... a proportion of every ticket price goes on fixed costs... security, insurance, stewards etc, and regardless of capacity these costs increase proportionately so the same ticket price would be necessary for 10,000 as for 110,000 people (give or take a small amount of fixed costs, say covered by corporate box profits). Rent at croke is the big thing and €1.5m/75,000 spectators is €20 a ticket... roughly the increase in price. Fair dos, and the stadium will be full for the wales, slovakia and germany games

and of course ticket prices won't be reduced at lansdowne... sure they'll have huge loans to pay back. I'm sure they won't be able to raise much of the capital without lending.

Tickets are expensive yea but the 50 euro tickets are not that much more expensive then we`d pay in the East/West in Landsdowne. And we`ll be playing in a world class stadium compared to the kipthat was landsdowne.

BTW, how much is the average premiership ticket? I`d imagine more then 50 euro

Boycott?? Seriously, the only thing that would do is hurt yourselves. You'd either be giving up your block booking tickets or you'd be paying for them and standing outside the stadium in the rain.

The FAI must be delighted to see so many people justifying the price hike. Take a look at the price of tickets to 2 matches to see France play in the Stade de France: http://www.fff.fr/billet/340385.shtml.

If the French FA tried to charge people 50 euro a pop to watch a match from behind the goal the fans would stay away in their droves and the FA wouldn't try it again that's for sure. Most of ye will remember paying only 25 euro for a seat behind the goal in Stuttgart as well.

The only way the FAI (an organisation that has wasted money hand over fist for years) will sit up and take notice is if people vote with their feet.

I don't expect this to happen at all, and neither do the FAI so expect it to be minimum 60 euro in 2008 if we're playing there.

I rang them to give out and I was told that I should put a little note on my application form saying that I want to be in a singing section.

Turns out that - wait for it - they forgot. About the whole thing. Apparently there's other steps yet in deciding where everyone goes, blah de blah de blah, but the bottom line is they forgot to put the one f***ing line on the f***ing form like they were f***ing told to.

Arsenal is now the most expensive ticket in the premiership. I paid £66 sterling (98euro) for the game against Liverpool last month, and have not paid less than £44 sterling (65euro) yet this season.

The FAI have to absorb a lot of extra costs. The security bill for Croke park will be way way higher the lansdowne. For the germany and wales games there will probably be 6500 away fans. This means the cops, who lets be honest dont like football supporters, will have to increase their presence greatly. The riot police will be out in force and they whole thing will be complete OTT. I can almost see the OTT GAA backed headlines about hardcore German and Welsh hoolies coming to town. No doubt england fans will be dragged into it also, somehow!!

The FAI will also have little or no income from friendlies for the next few years.

As for the FAI office staff, I must say I have always found them extremely helpful, my emails are always responded to very promptly and Emma & Mary are very professional in their work.

As for the singing section, I presumed it would be the lower tier behind the goal which is the canal lower as the away fans have the other end. My sister works in H&S and said there is no earthly way the FAI can openly advocate an all standing section. I just say we should all go into the Canal Lower, stand and sing. They cant throw all the canal end out of the ground for persistent standing!

Some of the ticket for arsenal are £90. Most clubs charge between 30-40. Wigan are the cheapest some of their category B games are £25 and category A games are £30.

There is no way we can compare European ticket prices with prices here. Sure for the France game in 2004 and the Germany game in 2006 tickets were sold to the public on the internet, something unheard of here in Ireland.

For some reason this country has a insatiable demand for tickets to big sporting events, such as soccer and rugby internationals, GAA and rugby finals, Ryder cup etc.
Irish sports fans will pay any amount of money to see any sporting event.

And I totally agree that the prices for the new Lansdowne Rd will keeping going up and up, regardless of capacity, and people will keep coming and coming.

Vast amounts of these "Irish sports fans" won't pay any money at all to watch their local team down the road play.

I also don't see why we can't compare European prices with prices here. The facilities are comparable, the cost of living is comparable, the only thing that probably isn't comparable is the quality of the football.
