Dublin sources suggest Fenlon will turn down Derry job?
DUBLIN SOURCES have suggested that Pat Fenlon is "unlikely" to take up the job offered to him by the Derry City Board of Directors and, therefore, the powers that be at the Brandywell are now believed to be looking elsewhere for Stephen Kenny's successor.
Indeed, having conducted an interview yesterday afternoon with current Celtic Youth team manager and ex-Sligo boss, Willie McStay, the topic of Derry City came very much to the forefront of our discussion.

Would be a great challenge for him though although as you say he has it handy enough at the moment.

CELTIC have moved quickly to fill the void created by Kenny McDowall's decision to join Rangers.

Willie McStay, who has been working as youth team coach at Parkhead, has stepped up to become reserve team coach.

McStay has been a key part of the Parkhead coaching staff for more than 10 years, and in that time has helped Shaun Maloney, Aiden McGeady, David Marshall, Stephen McManus, Craig Beattie and John Kennedy climb the ladder to the first team.

McDowall led the reserves to five consecutive championships before accepting the offer to join Walter Smith at Ibrox as first team coach.

Celtic lead this season's reserve league, only dropping their first points in the final game against Hibs last month before the campaign went into a cold storage until next month.

So McStay has every chance of making it six titles in a row when the season resumes.

He is no stranger to success. Helped by Joe McBride jnr, McStay has taken the Celtic youth team to four consecutive championships and has also enjoyed Youth Cup success.

McStay is a former Celtic player, though his career was somewhat overshadowed by his more famous brother, Paul.

He was always interested in coaching, and was given the chance to try his hand at management at Sligo Rovers in the Republic of Ireland in the early Nineties. He led them to the championship and also won the Irish Cup.

But when Tommy Burns asked him to return to Parkhead in 1994, McStay jumped at the chance and will continue to work with many of the kids who have progressed from his youth team to the reserve side.

Former Celtic FC defender Willie McStay has been named as the new coach of Hungarian side �jpest FC, who will take on FC Steaua Bucureşti in the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round.

'A big step'
The 47-year-old has been coaching youth and reserve teams at Celtic since leaving Irish side Sligo Rovers FC in the wake of winning a historic treble in 1993/94. "It is a big step for me to leave Glasgow and join �jpest and also a real challenge," said McStay, who has already been in Hungary for two weeks working with his new charges, last season's NB I runners-up.

Playing career
The Hamilton-born coach, older brother of former Celtic and Scotland midfielder Paul McStay, started his career with the Bhoys, but moved south of the border in 1987 to play for Huddersfield Town AFC, Notts County FC and Hartlepool United FC before returning to Scotland with Partick Thistle FC and Kilmarnock FC. He joined Sligo as player-manager in 1992.
