Ah sure some fans will tell you that they were intimated to voting in favour.

The process has been very successful so far as has speeded up the demise of CHF. IMO its quiet clear the FAI knew 12 months ago the teams they wanted in the new Premier. Knowing the outcome makes it a lot easier to come up with entry criteria.

I reckon the current eleven will be joined by Rovers. At the start of the season, I got the impression the FAI wanted Rovers, Galway and Limerick in at the expense of Dublin City, Bray and UCD. DC went, Limerick fell away on and off the pitch. You can see the masterplan is a little map in John Delaney's head with dots in each corner of the country (4 in Dublin, one in the North East, etc).

I have a feeling that if Galway had finished second and beat Bray in a play-off, it would have given them the excuse to replace Bray with Galway. When it turned out to be Blues v Dundalk, I'd say they'll settle for the status quo apart from Rovers replacing DC. It seems a very subjective choice for the FAI so if they had wanted Dundalk, they'd have used the last 10 years as a criterion rather than the last 4 when Dundalk finished 9th, 10th, 6th and 6th in the First Division whereas Waterford won the First, then came 6th, 5th and 8th in the Premier Division.

Dublin City & Kildare did not exist so could not go back that far.

Seems very irish thing to vote in favour of something, then claim you didn't know what voting for & change your mind when see results. Its like everyone moaning about FF/PDs but you know at least half them will vote for them again.

Well done Pete, its typical oirish alright and hopefully this will put and end to the debate, i think BLuemovie is spot on, you will see a more regionalised Premiere set-up, i think rovers will go up at the exoense of Either UCD or Bray and Galway could surprise also

Rovers will come up at nobody's expense as there's a spare place in the premier. Whether anyone else comes up at our or Bray's expense is the question.

The fans, as noted elsewhere, didn't vote for anything and are entitled to be aggrieved.

The clubs were effectively threatened with their grant money to vote yes. I've been told that by directors of three clubs, who I'm not going to name for obvious reasons. If you want to counter that, you may come up with evidence more substantial than a

Why didn't UCD ask you what your opinion was?

I think that was the same for everyone as the new FAI prize money was contingent on new FAI run league post eL-FAI merger...

UCD have done their part on the pitch which is good but lets be honest unless ye can come with some plans & progress off the pitch what do ye bring to the future of the eL. 500 people at premier division matches is ok now as some other teams not so far ahead of ye but if say everyone else doubled their attendances what could UCD offer then?

Poor Student,
We're discussing things in zany hypothetical land and you're showing a lack of ambition.

What we'd do is increase our attendances a hundred fold, move down the road into the New Lansdown and regularly win the Champions' League. Clubs which only plan to double attendances are holding the league back and should take a long hard look at themselves.
