    Gufc Agm

Galway United Football Club will be holding our Annual General Meeting in the Racing Lodge, Doughiska on Wednesday, 29th November at 8.00pm.
The meeting is officially the AGM of the executive committee. It is open to all club volunteers, staff, season ticket holders and supporters.

There will be reports to the floor from various individuals in relation to progress in various areas during 2006. GUFC are seeking nominations to the executive commitee at the meeting. The executive is being expanded.

It is crucial that supporters are represented at the meeting, and also on the club executive. While many people of good calibre have joined the club in the past few seasons, we need more "United" people involved in decision making and day-to-day activities.

A few of us will be meeting beforehand at Foxes, if supporters want a lift out to the Racing Lodge. See you there at 7.30pm.

There is also a direct local bus service to Doughiska, with a stop close to the Racing Lodge.
The buses depart from outside O'Connells in Eyre Square at 7.00pm and 8.00pm.

Return fare is E2.60, as opposed to E27.90 by taxi.

How much of a Surplus!!!!!!!!! We reduced our debts significantly but if anyone thinks we are making profits they should take a reality check.

Very positive AGM. Not quite sure of the exact trading surplus but the
overall dept was reduced and the finance committee seem pleased with this
    reduction.

The plans for the new season are either PLAN A or PLAN B, depending on which division we are in.

Both plans are ready for implementation and they will be implemented within hours of the IAG/FAI decisions.

If we do make it to the New Premiership, income will have to rise by up to 60% and it would appear that
several new players will be brought in, which would be expected. A new signing is expected to be announced
on 16th December (I think this is regardless of what Division we are in).

The work starts now and season tickets are top of the agenda and these
are a vital component of next seasons finances.

Fundraisers for 2007 includes Ball in March which is confirmed,
    Schools coaching,
    Famous Fives,
    Golf Classic,
    Dog Night,
    United Airways (ongoing)

More importantly there are people in place to help run these events.

the debts have been reduced from 200,000 in 2004 to 100,000 now and the board are really happy because the payments are being made in full and on time to the banks
The result of the IAG is coming out on the 11th. There will be a board meeting on the 12th to decide whether to implement Plan A or Plan B. On the 14th our first signing will be announced.

    Thumbs up excellent AGM

well presented and the fact alone that Utd have one and is so open is a credit to the board. It was nice to see the Supporters Trust being complimented for their herculean efforts. In fact they were set a target of 36000 last year and it looks like coming in exceeding that target by 17% brilliant. No doubt the bar will be set higher now for next year and everyone will need to get working to help the club. Also considering the 36k figure doesnt include the contribution in season ticket sales by the trust members with their stands etc in the shopping centres its a considerable achievement. add in Ladies football club, mens football club, intl match travel, away travel, stewarding, posters campaign, the new campaign welcoming supporters to town before matches like rovers and dundalk worked brilliantly all in all its mighty. Everyone is now as one behind the club and working together so the more help the merrier. The AGM for the Trust is on on the second tuesday of january, January the 9th at foxs bar at 7. get there behind Ronan and Jill and the crew

Ya i think everyone on this board should make it their business to get to the Trust meeting in a few weeks.AFAIK we're having another one before Christmas?
Regardless it's imperative people come and offer their services(if possible) to aid the Trust and ultimately UTD thrive.
We need to get working on
    -Membership
    -Increasing numbers at away Games
    -Lotto Subscription
    -Initatives for fundraisers
-Increasing awareness of the Trust and it's achievements/goals.

    See yee all there...hopefully!

    Brief summary

A lot of what went on is captured already.

John Fallon (Chairman) opened the meeting with a brief speech. He thanked John Clery from the G&DL for his work in developing the partnership between both organisations.

Nial O'Reilly introduced the speakers and thanked all those involved in the club, including the supporters for the atmosphere at home games and the GUST for their work throughout the season.

Nick Leeson (General Manager) spoke about the two budgetary plans (Premier/First) that are in place for next season. He also emphasised the need for an increase in season ticket revenue, as we were below target this season.

Colm Feeney (Finance Director) told us that the debt had been reduced as mentioned already. These figures are correct, providing we get receivables due in before the end of the year. There will have to be a huge increase in budget next season if are in the top flight, at least 60%.

Nial McNelis (Marketing), Bernie O'Connell (Secretary) and Noel Meehan (Facilities) also addressed the meeting.

There were six new nominations to the club executive, in addition to thirteen existing members - Geraldine Shields, Terry O'Regan, Neil Rowe, Willie Furey, John Hynes and Sean Buckley.
The full executive line-up (19 people) now is :

Nial O'Reilly (Chairman), Bernie O'Connell (Club Secretary), Geraldine Shields (Executive Secretary), Sean McHugh (Licensing Officer), Colm Feeney (Finance Director), Adrienne Deegan/Nick Leeson (Office), Daniel Walsh/Nial McNelis/Fergal Murphy (Marketing/PR), Noel Meehan/Tommy Shields (Facilities), Sean Buckley/Terry O'Regan (Youth Development), Ronan Coleman (GUST representative), Willie Furey, John Hynes, Neil Rowe, Gerry Burke.

Ronan Colemans position as GUST representative was formalised. Nominations will be taken for the 2007 GUST representative at our AGM in Foxes on Tuesday 9th January in Foxes Bar.

He is until the AGM. Nominations will then be sought for next years representative. Ronan is free to allow his name go forward if he wishes, other GUST members may also be interested in taking on the role.

Willie Furey is a welcome addition to the executive. There are now 7/8 people listed above who travel regularly to away games. Its important that we have increased official representation at away games next year, this has now been achieved.

The meeting was very postive. Its important that GUFC is inclusive to all its supporters and I feel this has been much improved by the expansion of the executive.

You all must know 1+ people on the above list. Feel free to approach them with any concerns/suggestions you have. If not, pm me and I will bring your points up.

The new stand will be starting in the New Year. Work on changing the floodlights to the corners of the pitch should start shortly. The new stand will be cantilever. As far as I can remember, these were the only points mentioned. There is another executive meeting on Monday 4th December, I will bring up stand progress again that evening.

    Club ball

This sounds like it will be a good nite as the club have announced last nite that Mario Rosenstock is booked and confirmed to be performing at the ball. I cant wait for it. Bring on December 11h and the 16th when hopefully we will be celebrating getting into the Premier League.

delighted for Willie, diehard supporter if there ever was one, but does this mean the end of the drinking due to the more professional approach from him???

PD/ if you could find out about the update on the grounds it would be great as (i think I speak for everybody here) that its getting awful drawn out at this stage and people are beginning to doubt if anything will actually happen anytime soon.

It is drawn out. We probably should have kept our powder dry until work had started. The main stumbling block remains the planning dept of the City Council.
