I thought all the meetings were taking place at the same time as the lotto draws on sundays anymore?

That was the plan, but the Lotto draws were not conducive to
holding meetings as those present were either selling, counting or
    collecting tickets.

While attendances at monthly meetings may not have been huge, they
were constant for over five years and were an open and democratic way
of information sharing and decision making.

And have the odd pint !

    great

pd it dawned on me at the kilkenny game away that between international buses, ladies football teams, the lotto crew, the stewards, and programme sellers and the bunch posting here that the efforts of PD and them is only beginning to reap benefits which is fantastic. relationships are developing out of all the different activites between for eg the ladies football and the section A contingent, children will be born out of these relationships which will have maroon blood 2nd generation within them and imagine the value of this over the next number of years. That was an incredible away crowd to bring 2.5 hours away and WHILE at times progress can seem slow whats being built is long lasting and UNITED will reap the benefits and these links will become ingrained into the community and expand the UNITED philosophers around the county and swelling the volunteers at shopping centre stands and matches

    well done all

Well said, geezer. The work that GUST do also includes matchday posters, sales of season tickets and a mens football team. The arrangement of pre-match meetings with supporters of Athlone, Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers was also a new and welcome development in 2006. We attended a conference of Supporters Trusts in Dalymount Park. An overnight trip to Kilkenny was organised, along with several table quizzes. GUST helped supporters with the cost of flags.

We have also worked with and assisted other football clubs in Galway in a meaningful way through our Lotto and small financial and logistical donations. Salthill Devon, Corrib Celtic, Shiven Rovers, Galway Hibernians, Mervue United, Corrib Rangers and Kilkerrin United spring to mind. Several of our members were instrumental in the re-launch of the Galway & District Ladies Football League.

Our links with the community are much stronger than when GUST was founded in 2001. When you include direct payments of over E40K to GUFC in 2006, a lot of work has been done by our volunteers.

Well done to you all. We are always looking for more people to help out. Its good fun, you get to meet new friends and more United supporters.

I hope to see some of you Tuesday night,

    PD.

As many as possible should attend tomorrow's meeting.I mightn't be able to go the AGM for a few reasons but i'll definitely be in attendance Tuesday. It's vital we all do our bit to Keep GUST and UTD alive and running.Without trying to be disrespectful i think the trsut meeting could be of more benefit in general than the AGM.....considering it's only a few weeks since a public forum was held.

There was a good attendance at this meeting on Tuesday night in Foxes, probably the biggest of 2006.

    Decisions taken included -

Seek nomination of another GUST member on the executive
    - achieved on Wednesday at the AGM

GUST status on the executive to be clarified
    - Ronan Colemans position as GUST representative was clarified at Wednesday nights executive meeting. This position will
be open at next years AGM.

Membership forms to be available at Christmas merchandise stands
    - A negative of 2006 was a poor membership campaign. This will be rectified for next year

E200 offer for adult season ticket/Lotto subscription
    - It was decided to offer the above deal at the merchandise stands between now and Christmas.

Preliminary work on legal status of GUST
    - This must be completed ASAP

The next GUST meeting will be in Foxes on Tuesday 12th December at 7.00pm. The 2007 AGM will be at the same venue on Tuesday 9th January at 7.00pm.
