    Awards Etc

    Awards Night 2006

    Music was supplied by Barry Dempsey following the meal and presentations:

    Club Awards

    Senior player of the year: Stephen Cooling

    Club person of the year: Alan McDermott

    Goal of the season: Stephen Cooling (Free v Bray Wanderers FAI Cup)

    Under 21 awards

    Player of the year: David O'Connell

    Young player of the year: Paddy Mahon

    Goal of the season: Owen Kavanagh (League v Athlone Town)

    The under 21s were also presented with their Enda McGuill Cup runners up medals and their winners medals for the Mid West section of the Dr Tony O'Neill League.

    Supporters Club Awards

    Player of the year: Alan McDermott

    Under 21 Player of the year: Owen Kavanagh

    Player of the Month November: Stephen Cooling

    Thoroughbreds achievement award: The Egan Family

    Special recognition award: Thomas Donnolly (Mgr) and Ger Browne (Assist. Mgr) under 21 squad.

    Thought Gorman would have got a supporters club award, being a local lad and all that.
    Did you ever notice that in every painting of Adam & Eve, they have belly buttons. Think about that...take as long as you want.

    Fair play and well done to all the lads involved all deserving of the awards. Have to say that I'm happy enough to see Alan Mc Dermott win the award.

    It was always going to be close between both Alan Mc Dermott and Philly Gorman because since their arrival they have had a positive effect.

    Also don't think the fact that a player is from the local area should effect the overall decision.

    I don't think so either and judging from the results, it didn't.
