Lads in our group who only applied recently got their letters. Are the 5Kers ! Was very surprised. Get shot of as many 4 match packages as you can before presumably general sale 2 match ones come out, if not singles. Actually makes financial sense for a change

Anybody know what the story is regarding putting in joint apps / getting grouped together or the perceived "realistic level" when requesting additional seats for that matter ? We're (7) probably going to drop in our forms together to HQ.....maybe stapled to make the point !

On that I would assume it would be easier to get grouped on the bigger side stands.

I'd expect a public sale of 4 match packages to sellout very very quickly.

But they'd have to charge for 4 matches in the one go then wouldn't they ? They have the BB / waiting list position as a retainer for the pre-general sale. Point is say we lose the two March matches, put in abysmal performance etc. then if its a fresh GS come October demand should be very low with the novelty of first Croker match against Wales well gone.

I don't know what is going to happen. However I would imagine they will sell packages of 4 tickets and charge up front for the 4 of them. They did that for friendlies in the past when ticketmaster got tickets. Otherwsie it would be unfair on the block bookers.

If things go worng in March you will see dropouts from the waiting list and block bookers too. I'd advise getting money up front from your mates if your name is going to be on the form.

The dropout rate of block bookers is and always has been very very low. I dont think we/they will stop going if the teams form drops. It will be the bandwagon merchants who will return/sell on their tickets in that event.

The block booking list was open again in September 98 prior to Croatia home. You could walk into Merrion Square and get yourself added to it. It had been closed from 1989 to the early/mid 90's. Friendlies only became compulsory sometime after the 2002 WC. I can't recall exactly which game it was.

I know several hundred dropped off the BB list for the China friendly in 2005. Not all of these would have gone to the waiting list as a number of clubs and leagues have been short tickets for some years now. I also believe that most if not all of the original waiting list prior to 2002 (who bought the friendlies) are now full BBers.

People also dropout but pass the tickets on. A colleague decided to dropout a few years back due to family commitments but he still gets his tickets and they are now effectively the BB of another colleague. It is done on trust but has worked so far.

I think there is probably still a decent percentage of bandwagon jumpers on the list. I also know that at least 2 major financial institutions in this country have BBings (probably held in individual names) as a friend has occasionally got access in one case. Having said that the loudest and most visible person I saw at the Czech game cheering the team on is a senior executive at a major financial institution. My mate beside me actually recognized him and knows of him and he is a very keen football fan.

Yeah I got them myself. Was good thinking - if you want to see Brazil you have to buy tickets for three matches.

Most of my mates are actually each on the waiting list so got their own forms so can handle their own money and tickets directly. Just putting one guy extra on mine and another fella getting an extra for his brother. Will prob end up 8-10. I've long since learned the folly of doing club and country ticket favours for non-committed lads who you can't trust to cover their ticket if they can't make it (or are put off by rain / sh1te performances). Been years since have had to take a hit on a ticket as don't get any for maybes/sunshiners. Like most I learned the hard way though !

It's just a one off offer to buy tickets for 4 games, no one extra has been added to the block booking list.

I wouldnt say its a one off offer for just 4 games. Im pretty sure that those who uptake on the 4 games will be offered tickets for any future intls at Croker. And if the residents around Ldown have anything to do with it, there will be plenty of them!
