Considering they do most of the Civil Service's actual work I'd say they are worth twice what they get. There are AP's and PO's getting paid a fortune for sitting around in their offices all day doing nothing.

All of this has happened before. All of it will happen again.
No, the Unions have fought for Benchmarking and National Wage agreements to be paid as fixed monetary amounts rather than percentages which benefit the higher grades most. The Government won't have a belt of it*.
*This wouldn't have anything to do with TD's salaries being tied to Civil Service Grades, or the fact that Government ministers get two rounds of benchmarking and pay increases - one for their TDs salary (tied to certain grades) and one for their ministerial salary (which is tied to higher again grades), obviously.
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.
EO is two grades up from that (can be promotion or entry level). They target graduates. (You can get by with great leaving cert, National Cert in the ITs/RTCs or degree).
Public sector pay is based on 41 hours week. If you don't work flexi you work 9.15-5.30, which is not less than the average office based provate sector worker...
Getting back on topic, I can't belive people are advocating giving less rights to ordinary workers. yes people can decide what package suits them best but wouldn't it better if they could choose between two good packages as opposed to two lesser ones...[/QUOTE]
E.O. is next grade up from C.O.
There is a big hulabaloo going on with Customs Officers who were made Clerical and Executive Officers in uniform back in 1996. In Dublin Airport they cover 24/7 with ot Saturday and Sunday. They now want to cut OT and give them an allowance and make them come in at all hours 0f the day and night. Apparently it's less than they'd get if it was a proper shift allowance. Is this less rights or not. BTW THEY HAVE TO GIVE FLEXILBILITY TOO. Which means if they have to stay beyond the 8 hours they get nothing extra. Who said Civil Servants had a cushy job
