    Hoops v Shoddy

For those of you who don't know Shamrock Rovers are today having to explain to a 'judge' why Roddy Collins was sacked. Yes, Roddy's claiming for unfair dismissal. I'm sure a copy of the league table from that period will ensure he's made a fool of.
False hope is worse than no hope. Ask Sligo.

This will have nothing to do with "league position"... it will have a lot to do with his failure to discharge his duties, his blatant reckless behaviour which could of lead to the winding up of Rovers by the Revenue and a clear and transparent by the book series of warnings issued from the board over a period of time which he ignored and thus the board will be vindicated for sacking him.

The state of Rovers' fitness and sharpness in the playoff games against Dublin City is also testament to his poor work.

I think Alan O'Neill was manager during the playoffs but surely the lack of fitness was down to the long term damage done by Roddy. Wasn't he supposed to have missed plenty of training sessions?

Was the club willing to go head-to-head with him in Court if needed, but they just wanted rid of the distraction ?

Some day someone in the league will stand up to goons like Olly and Roddy and they'll get the legal slapping they deserve....

He had been "suspended" by then I think. I'm almost certain Alan O'Neill took charge for that game.

Your burberry clad fans don't seem too worried about Rovers getting the odd fine or two either!
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"

He was (in his FAI jacket), alongside Noel Synnott (in his Ballymun United jacket.)

Wasn't the previous [sic] corrupt board who sacked him, either.
A leading authority on League of Ireland football since 2003. You're probably wrong.

Thanks for your contribution. You should give out odds every time you have an outburst against Rovers!

Both sides were happy with the outcome today. They withdrew their claim unconditionally.

Settling a case "on the steps of the court" is a much more cost effective way of doing things. If you proceed with the case you are into to serious money for you legal team. e.g an average barrister will charge approx €1500 (plus vat) per day or part of one. So it was in Roody's interest to withdraw rather than continue to have his costs rolling up.

No but it was the previous board that 'employed' him in the first place & neglected to bother with the little detail of a written contract!! Hardly the actions of a professional competent board of directors now is it?

That was probably the way ICBINHFRIP functioned & look what happened to them!!

The Employment Appeals Tribunal isn't really court. You don't incur huge costs going there. You don't even need a Solicitor or Barrister if you don't want one. They should have argued it out. I'd imagine Rovers would have had a strong case, it'd be interesting to hear Roddy's arguments!
