    Colin "Derranged Ferret" Murphy

Is rumoured to have followed Peter Taylor to Hull. Still only a rumour. Apparently he was in the dugout for their last game, but no comment has been made on his appointment (or non-appointment) However, Taylor has not yet appointed an assistant.

It would appear that County's Director of Football Colin Murphy is set to leave his post with the club and accept a role as assistant manager to Peter Taylor at Hull City. Murphy has been with County for just under a year following the sacking of Andy Kilner as manager at the end of last October.

    HattersMatters.com story
Murphy joined County as part of the managerial team along with manager Carlton Palmer and coach Kevin Richardson although he is now set to end his third spell at the club after just under a year back at Edgeley Park. Murphy has had two spells as manager of County after taking control of the club back in August 1985 until October 1985 and then November 1986 until May 1987. During his second spell with the club, Murphy kept County in the football league after amassing 45 points from 29 games, which saw County avoid relegation to the conference.
County fans can be slightly aggrieved that Murphy has left his post at the club after just only one year back at Edgeley Park and this follows previous stints when he was here for just three months in 1985 and then seven months in 1986. Rumours being circulated about suggest that Murphy may have left to join Hull after his influence in team affairs at Edgeley Park was being ignored by rookie manager Carlton Palmer. Palmer had earlier this week insisted that Murphy was happy with his position at the club and that he had spoken to Chairman Brendan Elwood about extending his current contract at the club along with that of coach Kevin Richardson. Palmer, Murphy and Richardson all signed contracts with the club until the end of the current season.

Rumours circulating this week have also linked coach Kevin Richardson with a move up to Sunderland to become a coach at the Stadium of Light. If the rumour is true then the club will have suffered a major setback in a bid to win promotion this season after losing two key members of the backroom staff. Things are appearing hard enough at the moment with the club putting in inconsistent performances on the pitch and the loss of key backroom personnel may affect the players further.

County are expected to make an official statement very shortly concerning the futures of both Colin Murphy and Kevin Richardson as Carlton Palmer had indicated on Wednesday that he was hoping to issue some sort of statement within the next 48 hours.

He didnt walk out on us, he hadnt even walked in! It was the stupidity of the board that let that situation happen. If you were English, and a full time premiership club asked you to join them over a semi-pro Irish club, where would you go? The board should ahve contracted him first day ever.
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.

Yeah. The (former)board are the main ones responsible for the fiasco, but Mruphy´s behaviour towards city was awful.
