no, i agree with you dottv. we can still do it yet
If(when) we beat San Marino next we will be three points off both the Czechs and the Germans. After that we play Wales in Croker while the Czechs play the Germans. If we win and one of them lose then we are on the same amount of points with the second placed team, even though they will have a game in hand.
So it's not all doom and gloom lads

The Czechs have to play the Germans, The Slovaks have to play both of them and Wales have to play them all too. Points will be dropped by some if not all of them .
There is still an outside mathematical chance, but getting realistic for one second here, an awful lot of apples have to fall of the tree in Ireland's favour if we are even to get out of the 4th Seeds slot and into the 3rd Seeds one. That result in Cyprus was devastating for our hopes. Not only losing, but losing by three goals, which is why we needed a few more goals on Wednesday. We now need to score a sh1t load of goals in the return game against Leitrim.. sorry San Marino ( same population as Leitrim). Germany dropping points against Cyprus, makes our result look slightly less cataclysmic, but the more points Cyprus collect at home, the better their chances of finishing ahead of Ireland.

If we were actually anyway decent maybe. We'll be beaten by the Slovaks
Stauntons aim always was to get third sot and be third seeds for the next WC qualifiers................then hope we get a favourable draw qualify and Staunton be declared overall supreme leader of the world!......you herd it here first!
