Extended Play, I think.
This came up in converstion last night and stumped the lot of us... any help out there?
Extra player? Edge player was suggested too..
The ball is round and has many surprises.
Extended Play, I think.
A leading authority on League of Ireland football since 2003. You're probably wrong.
Fairly certain it's Extended Play or else someone has been lying to me all these years.
LP obviously stands for Long Play.
Have Boot Disk, will travel
Jaysus SLK how young are you? Sheridan is correct it's Extended Play. Originally 7" EPs were played at 33rpm, hence the extended play.
When I was a kid the two that used to get me were B/W and C/W ie. Madness' new single One Step Beyond C/W Mistakes. Took me a long time to figure out they stood for Couple With and Backed With. Tells you more about my dimness than anything else though.....

Then they brought out 12" singles that were played at 45rpm.
Thus in this golden age, you had 7"s that played at 45rpm, 7" EPs that played at 33rpm, 12"s that played at 45rpm and LPs that played at 33rpm. A few brave souls even released 10" EPs (The Clash - "Black Market Clash" being one of them) but I can't for the life of me remember what speed they played at.
Then they brought out CDs and DJs stopped having to think any more.
Then DJs stopped being capable of thought and the way was clear for Norman Cook (who, in fairness, had made contributions to some mighty 7" singles) to become Fatboy Slim and take over the world. Superstar DJs indeed.![]()

Revenge for 2002
Ancient members of my family tell me of 12" singles that were played at 78rpm too.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
Doc - I had a feeling you'd be on this thread sooner or later.![]()

Sitting pretty!!!

TO TELL THE TRUTH IS REVOLUTIONARY
The ONLY foot.ie user with a type of logic named after them!
All of this has happened before. All of it will happen again.
EP'S were singles that had two songs on the one side rather than the conventional single, if that makes sense.
No One Likes Us, We Don't Care
Ditto for Bob's solo album last year. And indeed pretty much anything Sugar ever did. Hell even some of Grant Hart's solo stuff wasn't bad!
Oh yeah, I kinda hadn't seen exactly what I was implying there!![]()
And ah The Replacements, another amazing band. Paul Westerburg still writes great stuff too.
And Nevermind is a bona fida classic for sure but nobody will ever convince me that anything else in the Nirvana file is anything more than decent.
The ball is round and has many surprises.
