On a WIM and a prayer...

Bryan Robson, Liam Brady, John Aldridge... Muppets the lot of them, Christ it seems are options are limited, but there is hope, there is one man who can make a difference. He has all the credentials, massive playing experience, club managerial success and has extensive coaching and development qualifications. It can only be----WIM JANSEN----Remember him?

Wim Jansen left Feyenoord for the Washington Diplomats in 1980. Three years later, he moved to Ajax. He has held coaching positions at Lokeren, SVV, Feyenoord and in Saudi Arabia and Japan. Most famously, he won the 1998 Scottish championship with Celtic.
After joining the club, while they were on their pre-season tour of Holland, critics were quick to point out that Wim Jansen, probably quite rightly, wasn't a big name. After two league defeats critics were again out in force to blame the club and its management.

Jansen was responsible for signing Marc Reiper, Henrik Larrson, Paul Lambert, Regi Blinker and Jonathan Gould.

However, success was to follow when, in November, the club triumphed in the Coca Cola Cup Final.

From then on it was apparent Jansen was a good choice for the club. A three way race to the title was well underway when Celtic beat Rangers 2-0 in the New Year derby, and when they beat them again later in the season, it became apparent that Celtic were destined to win the title they had last one ten years previously.

The guy is a legend and should be in the running for the Ireland job!!!

Jansen is a clever man. Wouldn't be afraid to come out playing attacking football either.

Let us pray it is Jansen then, with Kerr as the assisstant.

It does sound like a classic pairing...
Personally I blame Bertie for all our problems, he couldn't manage an under 10's league team never mind a country....

    as said before

...gotta be careful of bringing a muppet in to replace a muppet - yeah that pairing would be nice though who knows if it would happen or not

Can't help feeling that the only reason Jansen is being touted is because of the Celtic connection.

For some reason people in this country feel an allegiance to Celtic - a profits-obsessed British PLC just like Rangers, Man Utd, Spurs etc etc.

Similarly, although I'm not convinced by him, IMO a lot of the anti-Robson comment is fuelled by anti-Englishness and because of his captaining England in the past.

Lastly, Keano - I really don't think he's going to be back atall full stop. I would say he's thinking f*** them I'll make the most of the time I have left at Man Utd. People are taking his return for granted - it's not going to happen.
