What odds the hearing on Friday is adjourned?
So, Friday becomes D-Day then...The Football Association of Ireland today received a request from the eircom League to hold an arbitration hearing into the recent Appeal Board decision concerning the eircom League Premier Division game between Bohemian FC and Shelbourne FC.
The FAI has appointed Mr Michael Collins SC as arbitrator and the hearing will take place on Friday.

#NeverStopNotGivingUp
I wouldn't swear to it (cos me brain is addled) but I'm fairly sure he was the arbitrator in one of our hearings in the registration season.
Revenge for 2002
He has represented Irish Intercontinental Bank at The Moriarty Tribunal and was SC for Smart Telecom when they applied for an injunction directing Eircom to remove alleged restrictions on its Broadband service
And he's on the right of this photograph...Here

Dammit - I had John Delaney down as the surprise appointment of Arbitrator
Kom Igen, FCK...
Delaney wanted Des Casey - which was crazy - it has to be someone outside football.
As a Blueshirt, Ollie should be happy with someone named Michael Collins![]()
At its opening meeting each year, the FAI appoints a panel of Five Arbitrators all of whom must have dispute resolution experience and none of whom shall be members of Council. Nothing to say it has to be someone outside football.
As per Rule 30 of the FAI rulsebook, the Arbitrator shall issue a decision within 5 days of the date of the hearing.
Smile........ it confuses people
From the Irish Indo:
YOU couldn't make it up. The final arbitrator in the civil war that has left the domestic soccer season in turmoil is going to be Michael Collins.
The Law Library Senior Counsel, who is a descendent of the Irish revolutionary leader, will offer an independent verdict on the Jason McGuinness affair after Shelbourne objected to any of the FAI's rotation of arbiters making the crucial call in this protracted saga.
It's just unfortunate the league can't turn to Collins' famous ancestor to ensure that this lingering mess reaches a definite conclusion soon.
As a result of Shels' objection, the FAI were obliged to ask the legal profession to enter the fray and Collins is expected to deliver his final decision on Friday over what punishment Bohemians should receive for fielding the suspended McGuinness in their 2-1 win over Shels in August.
With the FAI appeals board's decision to order a replay having been referred to arbitration by the eircom League's board of control, Shels chief executive Ollie Byrne now believes that his side has a good chance of getting the three points for the game which, he believes, they are entitled to under FIFA precedents.
However, the Shels' supremo will agree to the game being replayed if that proves to be the ultimate settlement preferred by Collins.
And, while the League had been confident that the arbitration decision would go in their favour, the fact that someone from the legal field rather than someone from the FAI's arbitration panel will make the final decision could be viewed as a setback. Shels are now confident that they will come out on top from the off field battles with Byrne also claiming yesterday that Derry will lose nine points over their use of the suspended Sean Hargan earlier in the campaign, but that notion has been laughed off in other quarters.
Derry are monitoring ongoing developments after their assertion last week that their legal team are prepared to resolutely protect the Candystripes' position.
from the Irish Times:
Collins was appointed on the recommendation of the Bar Council after Shelbourne representatives objected to the names put forward by the FAI. It was feared that the objection might cause a substantial further delay to the process but the FAI confirmed last night that the meeting will take place by the end of the week with a recommendation, it is hoped, to follow quickly afterwards.
What a mess!!
It'll be good for Shels to get away from the capital at the end of the week for a bit of a break down south.
Looking forward to their visit as is the whole City and as per usual a very warm and hearty Cork welcome awaits Ollie & Co.

If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.
I know its a bit out of the way but couldn't Ollie be sent to the game via Beal na Blath? (SP?). Thats if he can find it with the Cork signposting!!!![]()

TO TELL THE TRUTH IS REVOLUTIONARY
The ONLY foot.ie user with a type of logic named after them!
All of this has happened before. All of it will happen again.
So the arbitrator makes his decision next wednesday,
if he agrees with the fai, it is probably too late to organise the bohs shels game before the last game of the season scheduled for next friday...what happens then ?
