No, it proves there is a big gap between the top 4 teams, and the rest of the league.
The performances of Sligo against top sides proves that they're all spoofers. They lost 7-0 to us on agg. this season, 8-4 to Derry and so far, it's 4-1 to Shels.
Bray proved again last year that even poor teams can have relatively good cup runs.
Have Boot Disk, will travel

exactly, he has got us to 5th in the league, and cup semis not a bad achievement after being stuck in the doldrums of mid table in the graveyard just 2 years ago. and pats fans dont forget who knocked yee out of the cup last season, and if my memory is correct, sean 'spoofer' connor was managing us then, a first division team beating a premier division team, even with the messiah of irish football at the helm of pats.
am i the only Rovers fan that can see through Sean??
So, gone from the start of Cork's title winning season are Kevin Doyle, Danny Murhpy, Greg O'Halloran, George O'Callaghan, Liam Kearney and Neale Fenn.
Those Germans have a word for everything!
TO TELL THE TRUTH IS REVOLUTIONARY
The ONLY foot.ie user with a type of logic named after them!
All of this has happened before. All of it will happen again.
Dont be so fickle and self righteous, everyone knows that sean is arrogant and a difficult person but he has brought us success and that out weighs every defect of his personality. personally i would rather a manager who is a successfull pr!ck to a nice fell who cudnt win a raffle. dont be so ungratefull.
Sorry, Peadar. But you'll admit GOC is as good as left CCFC and it's not looking good with Fenn. Cork have shed 6 major contributors to their title win and not brought a lot in to replace them. Cork could be sinking towards the level of UCD/Sligo/Pat's and away from top 4 stuff.
I'm surprised that Sligo fans aren't heaping more praise on Connor's achievements (although his sudden departure may, understandably, be hiding their true feelings). Sligo came up with zero expectations and will finish the best of the rest after the well-moneyed top four. That's an amazing achievement for a rookie boss!
I've spoken to the guy and I found his brash confidence a breath of fresh air; he's got a very American 'can do' outlook and that beats the hell out of the usual cautious approach of EL managers. He's not afraid to stick his neck out or demand 100% committment. Respect.
He wants, expects and prepares to win and that's at least half the battle in any sport. I hope he dies at Bohs, but that's just me being a bitter Hoop rather than a rational human being.
I'd file him under 'dangerous' and keep my fingers crossed that I'm wrong about him. The most focussed boss I've spoken to since Stephen Kenny, for whom I've an intense regard that almost borders on hero worship.
Surprised Stewie Ashton didnt get a mention here as a promising manager.
Manager of the Cork City u-21 side that has been the most consistant and best in the country for some years now.
If I was trying to hire a manager for a club tomorrow I'd go after Scully first, then Ashton
Oh no not them again
How we got onto the subject of promising managers I don't know but...promising future managers? I have to give a shout out to Paul Hegarty. Has managerial experience with Institute and is now working under Stephen Kenny...learning the trade from the best in the league IMO. Peter Hutton also impressed when he took over from Gavin "the disaster" Dykes at City. Thrown in at the deep end and obviously it was a short period but showed enough kop on to indicate he could cut it.
Former Clyde and Dundee boss Alan Kernaghan is wanted by Irish club Bohemians as manager but is also in line to join Raith Rovers. (The Sun)
Dont forget Gavin "the disaster" Dykes saved us from relegation and Dermot Keely cudnt win a prem game with us!!How we got onto the subject of promising managers I don't know but...promising future managers?
